I don't want low-rider tires on my 4WD. That's what I think every time I see a newer truck with low-profile tires. Yes, I understand the rationales given for using them.

Now is the time to buy snow and ice tires if you need that kind of thing. Late August and September is when the tire manufacturers actually make snow and ice tires.

I have a Ford Ranger and it has 255/70/ 16's with a deep lug. Great tires but want to get new ones before these wear out.

Death wobble is usually jeep, ford dodge lack of caster combined with worn parts and made worse by improper offset.

ball joints, all tie rods, control arm bushings, torn to shit. was all new till a bf goodrich tire bubbled and internally separated causing a death wobble at 55 mph. 7th bad one. front tires didnt have 5k on them. rebuilt entire front end had 5k on it. stock rims no crazy off set.
put a differant set of tires on and its drivable now. even with sloppy tie rods,,if you have never had a death wobble be gratefull. ford vans sadly its common. the violence is impressive. bf goodrich tires are shit. they used to be top shelf stuff. im not alone. i can show pics if you like. really pissed me off, 280+ per tire. was not worn parts or caster. just shit tires. iv had 7 of them do this. i have all the parts to do it again. also new steering box for good measure.
dont buy bf goodrich ta radials.

I'm thinking that after two or three tires that had the same problem I might have switched brands.

Never hear about death wobble in a GM, Nissan, Toyota or Honda.
I have no doubt hitting a big enough bump can start a death wobble. If there weren't any worn parts then it's a design flaw.
It's always the vehicles that have the tight turning radius and you can steer an obstacle course with your Pinky finger like a ford.
Steering geometry is all about trade offs.
That smooth easy parking lot steering and tight turning radius comes at the cost of high speed stability.

yeah vans have positive camber and its part of it. i have considered putting a leaf spring front end in. they salt the roads up here and that destroys the body faster then i can patch it. kinda lost my hardon for the damn thing. nice backup if life realy goes to shit.
