"...how did j6 wind up in prison with no due process? call them terrorists. the patriot act...constantly remind myself there is 3 1/2 years to go.

Now, that is a good question and one we should all consider! As far as the Patriot Act, I think some of it did expire; however, the key parts are alive and well. Why? And, yes, we indeed do have ~3 1/2 years more so things could change, not that I will hold my breath...but it is damn hard to believe in the US government if you look at their history.

What I believe is that a government will do what ever it needs to do to remain relevant and in control. That's why folks spend millions of dollars to get a sub 200k per year job ... it's not about the pay check. It's the power and graft they are desirous of.

There has never been a help wanted sign for the Senate or Congress. These low life politicians use other peoples money to get elected to jobs ( use the term loosely) that pay 200K and by some act of god become millionaires. Not by an act of god--- by corruption and graft and stabbing we the people in the back.

Much as I hate to admit it, RC, I'm afraid you're right.

    But then what happens?

If it drags out the CCP will come marching in here at the request of the Democrat Party, if they happen to be in power at the time.

With their huge army and with the full backing of Democrats, anyone even thinking of opposition will be crushed since the Chinese don't have to worry about how many people they lose.

The BBB is getting signed today, and even in it's present form as a $0 tax there are still advantages I can think of:
    • Gun control laws have been implemented one grain of sand at a time. We can also get them restored the same way by being consistent and keeping the pressure on - just like the Anti's do. Rust never sleeps and neither should we.
    • There is a good chance that SCOTUS will say no tax, no NFA since the two were inseparately bound when the NFA was passed.
    • Even in it's present form there are advantages to NFA items (anybody who thinks that any gun you ever purchased on a 4473 is not on a list needs to have their pulse taken).
      • If a NFA firearm is ever taken as evidence is will not get "lost" or be kept forever. They are handled differently by LEO than any other firearm and the rules are tighter. @Ura-Ki can attest to that.
      • Placing a firearm in a NFA trust also has a few benefits:
        • In some states (like mine) I can't loan a firearm to a buddy who wants to borrow it for hunting or any other purpose without a 4473 in both directions. I can however add my buddy as a trustee so he or she can have possession without the transfer. If desired I can as the Settlor also remove the trustee.
        • In some states (like mine) if a person's Second Amendment rights have been restored the state will never approve a 4473 claiming that they failed the NICS blaming the Feds. Adding a person to a NFA Trust does not go through the state, so they can't lie and deny the transfer.

Case in point - my step daughter FAFO'd when she was much younger and is a non violent Felon as a result. Since then she has become a model citizen and a very responsible person.

Even though movement is being made to restore rights to non violent Felons, in my state she will never be allowed a transfer. At a $0 fee I can SBR all my rifles (even bolties), pistols (so I can add a shoulder stock), and shotguns (so basically everything) for free and later when she gets her rights restores can add her as a trustee with a single Federal only BGC. All perfectly legal and the state can FO.
        • Use of a "single shot" style NFA Trust could also be used to transfer a single firearm without the involvement of the state following the same logic by using a Form 1 to make it an SBR. The only costs would be to establish the trust with yourself as the Settlor and the other person as a Trustee. After the transfer to the trust is complete simply amend the trust to promote the other person to Settlor while removing yourself. A Federal BGC is still performed. And, yes, I would prefer that firearms were treated like any other tool without involvement of the authorities, but this is not the current reality.

Not only that, BUT, and NFA item cannot be banned or revoked by the states, which means Blue states cannot just up and randomly say that This or That is now banned in the state, NOPE, and Oregon is already in the middle of that mine field, with their Forced Reset Trigger ban, as well as several others like No Bump Stocks, No Silencers, no High Capacity Mags, No Assault Rifles, No Ghost Guns, and a bunch of others I forget off the top of my head, the point is, the Fed says YES, specifically so the states can not say NO, and yet they pitch a bitch and ban stuff anyway, However, No state can actually punish you if you have an NFA item, or anything else the court has ruled constitutional!
