Used to go in one in New Mexico that belonged to the telephone company when I worked for Long Lines. It was impressive and yes you could survive, but nothing was done to keep families alive so I don't know what would have been the manning if there was a war. My plans were to take the family to a mine on the edge of the Gila wilderness area and hunker down with the LDS. If we had 24 hours notice we would have been ok and we had basic LDS rations for 5 years. May still be there for all I know. Was last time I checked in 1974 and it was being kept current at that time. Moved to the east coast an sent xmass cards for a years and then lost track of the group. On the edge of Apache country but not in it. ATT Cheshire underground facility. https://www.crexi.com/properties/1843839/new-mexico-atomic-bomb-shelter Have to admire someones ability to steal..Copper gone out of bomb shelter that is underground and behind steel doors.
Simple solution - Batpoles in the silo itself from top to bottom with a stop at the living quarters. You know you've always wanted them...
I'd loved to have one of these...wife would divorce me, of course, so then I probably couldn't pay for it. Oh well, maybe next time... EDIT: I just had a thought...What if I stayed out late with the boys and she locked me out! Nah, I think I will pass...
I've dreamed of a remote Long Lines bunker for 25 years... some of their remote sites are way up in the mountains..
