QUESTION-------I have a 1999 Heritage softail and due to an acoustic neuroma my balance is shit and can't ride a 2 wheeler any more have been thinking of converting it to a trike. Looking at the Frankenstein trike kit any thoughts out there. Anyone else out there with balance issues and riding a trike
I don't have any 1st hand knowledge of the kit ,, but a buddy just had that kit put on his FL a few months back. He had a stroke a while back ,, took some of his balance ,, but he's back on the road now ,, haven't heard any complaints from him about it. That's about all I can tell you about it .
Yes, it's only a 250. Yes, I'm an old man. I don't care, this is a fun bike that is set up a little differently than my previous (sport)bikes. I love riding it.

2026 KTM Duke stuffed into my garage between vehicles. This was one of the biggest reasons why I purchased it. It needed to fit, light enough for me to pull it backwards, and up and into the garage.
More epic bullcrap I'm encountering with this bike- now it seems Progressive insurance wants to cancel me even though I paid for the year and have no reportable accidents or incidents for the last decade or more?!? Who's a good insurance company that you all use because after I straighten this out I'M going to dump Progressive just out of spite.
When I had me last bike (2005-2015) I had Flo insure it. Luckily I never had to make a claim. My car was insured by The Lizard.
I don't know why they would decide that I am an undesireable liability, I don't have anything on my record. I guess I'll find out after I get home from work.
I've been with Nationwide for 30 yrs . Everytime I check pricing ,, they're within a few dollars with the cheapest ones ,, so it ain't worth the hassle to change ,,, when I put my bike on insurance,, they just ask me which one and they add it on .
It appears that I didn't take any photos of my bike/vin/odo for them to have on file. They had a deadline of 7/27, but I didn't find out until today- so let's see if they accept my photos, or I get a refund and shop for other insurance. I'll keep you all updated.
I had my 2005 Kawasaki KLR650 Dual Sport bike insured with them, but did have one problem. I gave them the VIN number, but they kept saying it was not a KLR650, but a "KL650", of which no such thing existed at the time. They never required me to send them a photo of the bike and VIN, but they did insure me. And for half the price the Lizard quoted. I often wondered, if I did have to send in a claim, would they refuse it due to "not being the correct bike"!? Glad I never had to find out.
I can understand your concern on that ,, I'm sure they'd fight it ,, whatever they can do to save a dollar ,, and screw you ,, is what they'll do. But if they had the VIN# right ,, and the wrong designation letters ,,, it's on them . Just my opinion.
Finally rode past the 600 mile mark and the bike's internal program ended the break-in period... It's like a new bike; I can throttle her past 7000 rpm and it doesn't blink and flash at me anymore, I took her on the highway and opened her up a little- to my surprise she's super smooth at and above 8000 rpm. Pulling out from a start, I can now accelerate properly and feel that kick-in-the-seat-of-your-pants that I yearned for. At least I can now out accelerate most cars, again. She is only a 250cc, so I'm not expecting her to win races or anything, but it's nice to know you have enough power at the higher rpm's to get you out of trouble. Oh yeah, I broke one of my ATGATT rules and took off without my jacket and only wearing shorts and a t shirt. That was sooooo enjoyable, but we're all adults here and I think I can handle a little bit of increased risk now and then. Back to work on Monday with all my stuff on. I'm actually looking forward to this fall; they have this new equipment called HEATED CLOTHING and I got gloves, Jacket, and pants. I'm wondering what it's going to be like NOT freezing for once. I almost feel like I'm suiting up for an orbital flight with all that stuff.
Haha, here in North Florida we do get some pretty cold winter weather, for awhile. At one time while working, my bike was my only transportation for about three years. Rain or shine, hot or cold, I rode. Got some odd looks from folks at work - Fla. Dept. Of Education uptown. I rode in one morning, just below freezing. I was wearing thermal undies, a sweater under my jacket, neck gaiter and balaclava and winter riding gauntlet gloves - I was quite comfortable. One lady asks me how can I ride in such cold weather!? I told her, "A new invention, the coat!". Hahaha! I was all geared up, all my gear was black, had my helmet on and my armored jacket. A lady on the elevator asks me why I wear "all that stuff"? I tell her, "I am Revello, the Fifth NinjaTurtle!". Another time another one asks the same, I look at her and say in a low grow, "I'm Batman!". Hehe, they made it so easy. Once a guy asks me how I can ride in the rain!? I tell him, "I check the weather radar on my cellphone, and ride between the showers."
I actually enjoyed gearing up and riding in the rain. There was something more peaceful about it, maybe because I needed to pay more attention. I only had a heated jacket, I used to take turns sticking my hands in it to warm them up. The ST-1100 fairing would let you tuck your legs in close and get engine heat. I miss that bike.
