Motivational Poster Thread (warning content)

I had a teacher when I was in High School who when I was going to quit and start my career in the Oil Field, told me " You can quit school, but you don't have to quit learning". And I never did. 40 yrs later I spent a lot of my time explaining to Peteoleum Engineers why that won't work. They hated it that they had a degree and a high school drop out like me made 3 times thier salary. I'd tell them that there's thousands of guys with PE degrees. There only a few hundred guys with 40 years of hands on experience. I always tell people its like building a house. You pay an archetect a few thousand dollars to design and draw up a set of blue prints. Then you pay an experienced home builder tens of thousands of dollars to make it a reality.
I had a cousin who had spent half his life going to school. He was going for his PHD and was visiting one summer. We were standing around the work table in his brothers leather shop. He was at the table working on a belt. He took a bottle of dye and dabbed it on the belt. The dauber was dry. He set it aside and starting looking for one with dye left in it. The PHD candidate picked up the open bottle, turned it upside down and looked in it to see if there was any dye left in it. Me and my other cousin just looked at each other. I said "Your folks must be proud of all the money they've spent on your education!"
