Is life in Russia about to change today?

I know Russians that I call friends. I would love to go visit them. They are ordinary good people like here. They work, enjoy their families, and try to achieve. As always, the leaders make the problems.

I hope it's not a ploy by the collective West to freeze the conflict, rearm Ukraine and start it up again later. Mr. Putin is smarter that that, however. The little green goblin in Kiev has got to go at any rate, to Israel, to his nice mansion in Florida, or wherever. Viktor Yanukovych was Ukraine's last legitimate president before Vicky Nuland's cookie sale in Maidan Square in 2014, anyway. Russia will keep the Donbass regions that voted to join Russia, along with Crimea no matter what, probably Odessa and Kherson. Hopefully no more talk from the US and NATO about Ukraine joining that obsolete organization, although the US and NATO will no doubt keep making noise about that.

Simple solution Putin withdraws-- those regions that supposedly want to be part of Russia have fair and honest elections if they want to join Russia so be it if not so be it. Putin must accept the election results. Any one in those regions who do not what to be part of Russia are relocated in the Ukraine. same holds true for anyone who wants to be Russian gets relocated in Russia. I would rather NATO pays for relocation than arms. Putin must be put on notice any further aggression towards the Ukraine will bring him a world of hurt

Umm, the donbass region as well as Crimea before it held a referendum and overwhelmingly voted to secede from Ukraine and become part of Russia. The Eastern provinces are majority ethnic Russian, they speak Russian. Ukraine had been waging war on them and basically ethnic cleansing them for years before Russia stepped in.

Brian doesn't really seem like an ex-marine to me.

No, Brian Berletic is much more intelligent than the average marine. Probably why he did not make a long career out of it.

Looking at the map below, I cannot see what Putin will offer up if anything. He definitely wants, actually needs, a land-bridge to/from the Crimea, so it won't be Kherson or Zaporizhzhia and that also means, at least, a portion of Donetsk. Donetsk and Luhansk are major coal and steel producers plus lots of other minerals. Frankly, I will be surprised if he gives up anything. Odessa is safe which is good news as it's the biggest port in Ukraine and will be greatly needed in the future. I guess we'll know soon if there is a deal... I hope so.

Nice of Vladimir Vladimirovich to give this Ural motorcycle as a gift to this guy.
It's an improved Soviet/Russian version of the German BMW bike. Just needs a machine gun on the sidecar. :D

My thoughts exactly. Per Putin they are liberating ethnic Russians and this is the driver for the war. Let those regions have referendums to cheese. Any citizens who disagree with the choice is free to relocate.

Yeah, great idea, have international monitors, of course, but I will be shocked if that happens. Putin paid a lot of blood to get that land and the only reason to give it up now is the international community and we have seen first-hand how ridiculously idiotic they (we) can be. Hell, the EU is still buying about 10% of its fuel from Russia. Also, the Russians have been selling its oil and natural gas to India for a discount who acts as the middleman selling it to the world while China hasn't stopped purchasing it. What has the EU or America done about it? This whole damn war has been as handle just about as worse as possible...

Who is Neville Chamberlain here? Trump? Oh, and Putin is Hitler. I'm confused--I thought Trump was Hitler. Who is Hitler this week?

The ethnic Russian people of Donbass and Crimea already voted in referendums to join the Russian Federation. They are part of the Russian Federation. No international monitoring or foreign "peacekeeper" troops (officially, at least) in Ukraine are necessary.

These 1938 Munich Conference comparisons are ridiculous. Russia=NS Germany (bad guy), US/NATO=Britain (good guy).
    Give me a break.

If Russia had troops or missiles in Mexico aimed at the US, or warships running around in the Gulf of Mexico, or directly off both US coasts like NATO warships do in the Black and Baltic Seas, do you honestly believe the US would tolerate that? No, it would be a threat to US national security. That already happened once, in Cuba. US IRBMs in Turkey were aimed at the USSR, and the USSR responded by placing its missiles in Cuba. We saw what nearly happened in 1962. Fucking WW3 nearly happened.

Ursula von der Leyen is Chamberlain. Putin would be Hitler. Well at least this week. Trump is probably Switzerland.

This is a Russia / NATO issue fueled on by the stock market, speculators and mega corps. Gotta keep the fire going to make money.
