Is life in Russia about to change today?

"The ethnic Russian people of Donbass and Crimea already voted in referendums to join the Russian Federation."
The difference is the same as if Idaho today voted to secede from the US. Was that vote stolen by the Democrats in Idaho? Would that vote be accepted by our federal government? Then, after 3-years of bloody fighting to a stalemate to try to obtain peace, they are offered another election that is monitored by neutral parties to ensure to both sides this is indeed the will of the people. Seems like a logical compromise.

"These 1938 Munich Conference comparisons are ridiculous. Russia=NS Germany (bad guy), US/NATO=Britain (good guy).
    Give me a break
    ."
Hitler used much the same rhetoric during his invasion of Poland as Putin has done, same old crap, ethnic Germans being persecuted vs. ethnic Russians being persecuted, on and on, and this has been hashed out on this forum, news medias, news influencers, and etc. over and over.

"If Russia had troops or missiles in Mexico aimed at the US, or warships running around in the Gulf of Mexico, or directly off both US coasts like NATO warships do in the Black and Baltic Seas, do you honestly believe the US would tolerate that?"
This is sort of a valid argument; however, if there are nuclear missiles aimed at Russia by NATO countries are you saying Russia has no nuclear missiles aimed at say France, UK? This sounds very naive to me. It's been stated neighboring NATO countries do not have nuclear missiles aimed at Russia. Google it. Can Russia state the same? NATO does have Anti-Missiles systems in place in Romania and Poland, probably Patriots... Warships can go where they want in international waters, with or without nuclear weapons. Every country has an international maritime boundary. The USA's is 12 miles. I don't know or understand all the details but, in theory, 'right of passage' allows them to come right up to the border.

You are correct about the Cuba Missile crisis, pretty dicey time. However, things have changed since then a lot...that would make for an interesting topic of discussion.

Are you going to spend the next couple pages "correcting" me and trying to "win" with your hyperbole and circular logic again, Mr. State Department, War Department or whoever the hell you supposedly worked for? Screw you, screw your beloved ZOG and everyone who serves it. It deserves to die.

Such venom! I think that means I gave a good argument, yes? Good.
Definitely not 'hyperbole' just using some logic, some known facts and giving my opinion.

I do fail to see what 'ZOG' (there's that word again!) has to do with the Russia-Ukraine war. I mean, that is what we are talking about here... Are you saying Israel has/had something to do with the war?

A definition, for those like me that had to look it up: ZOG: A white supremacist acronym for "Zionist Occupied Government," which reflects the common white supremacist belief that the U.S. government is controlled by Jews.

I think ZOG is quite a stretch, at least, for the US Congress. Personally, I think Israel and Jewish lobbyists have way too much influence on the US Congress but certainly not control. However, I'm an American (so I'm bias), a Constitutionalist (again, I'm bias), and the word 'control' can be subjective so... Nevertheless, money definitely buys political influence, and it matters not where or who it comes from so I admit, I think they have too much influence as do many other entities - too many.

No, I worked for neither - well - I had contracts with them but never took a government job, their bennies were good but didn't pay enough. I did my military time, took my military pay, got out and that's the only time I got a government paycheck.

……no but you landed here 5 minutes ago and are already showing your arse to others, not sure what forums you have frequented in the past but we have always generally tried to not behave like a c#nt toward each other. At this point…you are.

Why do you think that? Because I'm going against the grain and have a differing opinion than most others here and you don't like that? Too bad. I am not here to win a goddamned popularity contest. I think I have behaved in a reasonable, adult manner here, but I don't like being subjected to bullying tactics and insults, either. I will stand by everything I have said, good, bad or indifferent. If I believe someone has legitimate evidence supporting a viewpoint differing from mine, I will concede to that. If that casts me in the role of a "bad guy" or I'm "un-American" or a "c**t" as you so eloquently put it, then all I can say is opinions are like assholes; everybody has one. If I am breaking any forum rules, that is for a moderator to decide, not you, I don't care how long you have been here.

….. are you trying to prove my point for me or just ignorant ? Members of this forum have engaged in “spirited discourse” since the start. We all sure as hell don’t agree on things from time to time but you landed here and 1) dove into the rabbit hole of garbage faster than a drunk to a free beer and 2) when engaged back started slinging insults. In fairness you are actually not even entertaining when you do so and that alone is quite disappointing.

You point out you are not here to win a “goddamned popularity contest” then maybe X or Reddit is what you are looking for not so much a smaller/closer group.

Not at all. Seriously, differing opinions are what make this forum so interesting. What we are against is your behavior, specifically when someone disagrees with you, shows why they disagree, and you lash out with rude and unacceptable behavior. You get extremely emotional for no real reason and while it's perfectly fine to have a differing opinion (you should see mine on American health care), it is not okay to degrade and insult others simply because they do not follow your logic and disagree - even if they might be wrong or are completely wrong. Yes, it can get frustrating; nevertheless, we act like adults, control ourselves and respect others here and their views. So, to be clear, that is what has irritated folks here, not your opinions, for they might even agree or partly agree with you, but it's your conduct.

    @Bandit99,
Speaking of being insulting, I didn't particularly like you calling me "naive" a few posts ago. Or Andy calling me a female body part. It works both ways. I don't know, you and a few others came across to me as arrogant, condescending and bullying in my WW2 and atom bomb threads and in this thread when I presented a viewpoint differing from the party line and the court historians' views. I as a newcomer felt as if some of you guys were treating me like an idiot and hostile intruder encroaching upon your group. Other forums I have been on in the past were a bit more free-for-all, so perhaps it was a reflexive action on my part. My comments toward you as a former government employee were also reflexive because I have an extreme dislike and distrust of the present US government, its employees, their claimed, frequently abused authority over me, their actions toward me and toward the rest of the world. Some of my family members were government employees, so I had a firsthand view of their mentalities. Perhaps it's a flaw in my character. Perhaps I am overly sensitive from a lifetime of being bullied at school, work, etc. I am in my 60s, so please don't lecture me about being an adult. Maybe I should avoid political discussions, as those are always extremely volatile. I usually receive strong reactions to my particular views, not following the herd, and such. I have been ostracized, marginalized, called "nazi", "hater", "revisionist", my IQ, sanity and sexual orientation have been questioned, etc., etc. And it's gone on for years and years. And it does make one lose their faith in humanity after a while. We are existing in a truly shitty, low-trust, dysfunctional society and world today. This is why I usually don't talk to many people these days and keep to myself. I do not consider myself a bad person, but you do develop a certain defense against all this, So, forgive me for that, I'm only human.

…….. you have genuinely identified your own issue here….you arrived here, dived right into politics and when your views were not met with open arms you started lashing out. Politics/history/current events can be polarising subjects and the old adage if “you can’t take it don’t give it” (in your case knowingly posting what you view as against the grain positions and getting wound up when you get opposition) seems to apply, maybe these threads are not for you. There are PLENTY of other threads here about “Survival” that do not generate the level angst that may cause you an issue. Maybe try and post on topic in those and leave the politics/news etc alone. It would probably be healthier for you in the long run it seems.

Zombies are at the gate. Repeat. Zombies are at the gate.
    That is all.

Cancel the alert. It's only lead paint issues and maybe medical experimentation at the hands of the government.
    Carry on.
