But I would definitely prefer to have another one that isn't battery-powered.

I have a couple of Russian-made hand-crank dynamo, or squeeze lights I bought years ago. They work fine, but only until your hand gets too tired to keep pumping it. Then you have to switch hands until that hand gets tired. But no batteries required. A similar thing is the shake light that charges by vigorously shaking the internal contacts to power the bulb. Again, not long-lasting, but useful if no batteries are available. The hand-cranked emergency radios are good to have, they vary in quality too, depending on price.

This was very much worth the time to watch, and results were interesting. I was shocked to see Duracell rate so high. I refuse to purchase Duracell anymore as it seems that they leak on me almost every time; however, I purchased all of them from Costco and have since been told that is the reason. I don't know and don't care but I am finished with them. I have moved much to Eneloop rechargeables, but I am still using up packs of alkaline Duracell. When they are gone it will either be Lithium or rechargeables.

I bought an LED , rechargeable flashlight ,, 3 levels of brightness ,,and comes with a short cord that you can plug in and charge your phone off of it.
I leave it in the truck just to have it on hand . It has 4 small lights on the side that when you turn it on,, it'll tell you the level of charge you have . I'll check it every now and then and stick on charge just to keep it topped off.
I think it was about 30-40 bucks.

Give me a little while and I'll snap a few pics of it and post them here for you,,and I can give you a model number, etc. If I don't get to it soon ,, if it's after dark ,, I'll see if I can post a little Pic or video in the dark so you can see it's levels of brightness,,,
Don't know if I mentioned it,, but I picked it up at Walmart.

The thing is eneloop while rechargeable for umpteen times (2000 times) and don't leak they don't carry as much amp hours (AA=2000-1900 mAh, AAA=800-750 mAh) as a normal alkaline so for things that draw lots or you need for extended use, like a flashlight, they might not be as good for you. The Pro Eneloop carry more amps but only recharge 500 times...and are more expensive, of course.

…….. no it’s all Duracells. I have bought them from multiple sources and had them fail. I was in my local Bunnings (like a Lowes/Home Depot) and there were some leaking in the packaging on the rack….. eneloops only for me now.

…….this is why I have a mixture, white for household tasks like remotes etc. Pros for brighter lights, camera flash etc.

Andy, that is good information to know that even down-under Duracells leak. No more for me. Yeah, that is exactly how I used my Eneloops too! These Eneloops cost more but they last forever...and they don't leak!

Eneloop has served me well. I also have a good supply of Amazon Basics in AAA and AA just to test out. So far going on a year or so with no problems, but these are the rechargeable. Maybe about 4 to 6 cycles so far with most of these, no issues.

I think it was around 2010/11 or so that Duracell went to hell. Before that they were my go to battery.

    Y'all still using batteries?

I looked around and the only batteries I still use for flashlights are AAAA for pen lights, and I think they've been lasting more than a year the way I use them, and I carry them daily. Everything else in my EDC/work loadout is rechargeable LED. I have chargers and cords everywhere for when the power is on, and power cells, big rechargeable batteries in fans and big battery work lights that can charge smaller flashlights and phones.

I have inverters in the cars and during hurricane Florence I sat in the Mercedes for an hour out of every 4-6 sending brief text messages (nothing was going through, but we checked in every 4 hours then went back on airplane mode so the phone didn't go dead hunting for a tower.) had no trouble keeping all my batteries charged from the car and the power cells. If the towers were never coming back online I could maintain a bank of lights and fans for a very long time using car battery power.

18650 for flashlights, mine lasts months. i think aa are in the tv/dvd remote.headlamps are aa but will be upgraded. the hand crank radio will get aa enloops but guns and edc are 18650 and cr123. the red dot has a button battery, and solar. the good one anyway. iv been 3dp b/u sights for guns with cheap dots. i gave up on aa long time ago! hard to beat rechargeable led for lights.

I have one just like that on by bedside table. Love it.
Wife got it at school - various Traders come to the school to sell oddball crap to the teachers - since my dear wife seems to have a flashlight fetish, we have no shortage of 'lights all around.

    ____
I switched to Eneloops or any number of ultrahigh capacity NiMH recharables from Japan.- this owning to them going into ham radio H/Ts I limit the rig to 5 Watt TX so as to reduce high current draw.

We have swapped almost everything over to Eneloops. They cost a bit more, but in the long run are cheaper.
