Charlie Kirk Assassinated in Utah

This entire incident is very disturbing in many ways. I just can't fathom the hatred a person must have to put forth a plan such as this. It was obviously well planned and carried out. I would ascertain that this person was not alone and there were other people involved to not aid in the planning, positioning and the escape. I think they will ultimately find this person but I'm not too sure about everyone else involved. Unfortunately this is what is happening today. It is clearly presenting the hate and violence the left is willing carryout not only for political assassination but hate against those that believe in the Lord and preach His word. This is evil on different deep levels.

 

Man I sure hope they capture the shooter alive.

 

Let's step back and look at this with the idea it was just some stupid kid that had little if any training. He goes into a gun shop and buys whatever rifle the interwebs told him might do the trick. He then buys a scope and rings and has the shop mount and bore sight it for him, then tells him to go and zero it in at 100 yards like all good hunters do. Ok, it doesn't take too much skill to manage to shoot a group at 100, accurate enough for the task at hand. Figuring that he might need to shoot further, and knowing the rifle should be capable, he stretches it out to what he thinks his skill might allow, ok, so he thinks he is a sniper now, and starts planning his setup, but only has a day or two to walk the scene and decide what he is going to do. The moment arrives, and he has his target in the cross hairs, but he never learned or the interwebs never discussed shooting down hill and how that would effect his shot placement, so, he is aiming for the forehead, but a combo of spindrift/wind plus the downward angle pulls his shot low and left, the opposite of what a strait and level shot should do, (high and right) and we get the neck shot, still a successful kill, but not a clean one, a professional would know better, and would have been able to make that shot, and do it clean!

 

The idea of a professional shooter seems less then likely, more then likely the above stupid kid.

A professional, or at least an experienced shooter would pick a well known and proven rifle, doesn't matter the cost these days, a cheap Savage 110 or Remington 700 from the local shop would do just fine. Caliber is gonna be a more defining choice then the rifle at this point, same as glass, it's still reasonable to assume a cheap Savage with a basic Leupold VX-3 and good quality factory ammo or even Mil-Surp would do the job nicely. A real shooter would be dialed in for any distance and shooting situation they might encounter, especially given the very short span of time needed to decide on the details of making that shot.

Assuming the media is correct with the rifle caliber and the photo of the rifle he used, I'm leaning toward stupid kid more and more!
As an experienced shooter, I wouldn't have missed a head shot, especially at such a short distance, ( I can shoot sub inch with a .22 at 200 yards) all day long!
That kids rifle and caliber at the worst should be capable of a couple inches at 200 yards, which lines up with the results we see,
A pro would have known the effects of shooting down hill, and would have known how to read the wind, and would have complete control over the shot, so, was it a buggered shot, or did he intend for the throat shot?

All other details say stupid kid, but I think more and more, he wasn't alone!

I have more questions then answers at this point, and there needs to be a LOT of changes in how we handle large gatherings while we listen to a person speaking!

The FBI is offering a $100,000 reward for info, which tells me that they have few leads at this point.

"On September 10, 2025, at approximately 12:24PM, Conservative political influencer Charlie Kirk was shot and killed at the Utah Valley University in Orem, UT. Mr. Kirk was speaking at the University as part of the American Comeback Tour. Multiple SLC I and III agents responded immediately. The suspect fired one shot from an elevated position on a rooftop in an adjacent building on the campus and surveillance video shows the suspect, jumping off and fleeing the area on foot. ATF and other law-enforcement located an older model imported Mauser .30-06 caliber bolt action rifle wrapped in a towel in a wooded area near the campus. The location of the firearm appears to match the suspects route of travel. The spent cartridge was still chambered in addition to three unspent rounds at the top fed magazine. All cartridges have engraved wording on them, expressing transgender and anti-fascist ideology. An emergency trace has been submitted an ATF SLC is working leads generated by the trace. The firearm and ammunition have been taken by the FBI for DNA analysis and fingerprint impressions. Upon completion of forensics, the firearm will be disassembled for additional importer information. Multiple people of interest having contacted or detained because of eyewitness testimony and review of video footage. The primary suspect is yet to be identified. ATF is assisting the investigation with multiple other federal, state, and local partners and the case is co-led by the FBI and Utah SBI."

Well, this is interesting... I do hope the FBI pays a visit to this freak and it would not surprise me to see a bunch of them involved with this. Furthermore, if they are involved and given the past shootings then maybe it is time to recognize it for what it is, a true mental illness and possibly dangerous to society.

 

I always shoot a bit high when shooting downhill. My thought is he was shooting center mass and it went higher than he thought it would.
