Watch out for it, and don't trust it any more than you'd trust any other stranger. The A-eye response that jumped out at me was that an Aladdin PL-1 is "not a pressure lamp, and has a wick." That's an A-eye response from a computer that has never seen, touched or lit an Aladdin PL-1 lantern.

 

A young WWII Reenactor I watch on YT has been warning and showing examples of supposed "historical" photos showing up on Google searches, purporting to be actual photos of WWII troops and scenes. But it is created by AI, using some elements of genuine photos, with the troops being either modern reenactors or even toy action figures! These fake pics are being taken by many as real, insinuating themselves into our history. AI is bullshitting us. Rewriting history with these fake photos.

 

I said it ,, and I'm sure plenty of others have as well ,,, but with this AI stuff ,, it's gonna get hard to tell what's real, and what's not.

 

It all depends upon who put in what info. Thats the part that will shape the future. Great reset anyone?

 

AI .. it gets worse. AI is now querying other AI generated content for data source material to answer you questions.
As we race for to make general AI better, it's only going to get worse.
AI is great when it's targeted to a certain narrowly focus task and something that has hard fast rules like chemistry, physics, engineering. It will be better than the general experts in the field. Now if you narrow down the scope to the point where AI and the expert have the same data .. like everything in that field has been authored by the expert only .. then AI currently loses.

But the AI general folks are going to be using via chatbots, search engines or their phones are going to get worse and worse. But the trust in these results will go up and up. GenAI will be pretty much useless in the next few years unless they recalibrate and can remove the cruft in their data sets.

Anyway, here is a picture that doesn't exist.

It could fool some, others might be like it could be real.
Wait until your news is all AI generated.
Wait until your candidate is all AI generated.
Wait until the phone call from your child or grandchild in jail is AI generated.

Oh wait, some of this already exist.
And those that can't tell the difference are going to throw the switch in the Milgram experiment because they were told to.
