Only the politicians seem to care if someone puts " recyclables" in the trash.

Oh no .. it's the corp that has a contract as well. They get a cut.
Corporations aren't going to put cameras and AI on their garbage trucks for the environment. It's so they can make extra money.

I don't differentiate. The deep state is just the biggest corporation, except with a monopoly on violence.

Elon Musk is set to begin mass production of robots in the next 5 years that will replace human workers. He's hoping to produce 1 million+ a year at a base cost of $50,000 each. At that price you can afford to replace just about anyone, in any profession. There might be a few jobs in small family-owned businesses, in the arts and crafts, and maybe there will be a nitch for those people that prefer dealing with humans, but things aren't looking good. Jobs on the line are not just those for truck drivers, retail clerks, cashiers, tellers, delivery people, carpenters, painters, roofers, and plumbers, but teachers, nurses, police, fire and EMT, etc. Don't forget the professions like doctors, lawyers, accountants and engineers. We can ALL be replaced! Eventually, most people will receive welfare and food stamps, live in public housing (how are you gonna afford to buy or keep a house?), Medicaid, and free stuff (drugs, entertainment, games, etc.). Hell, they might even dust off that old plan of the Nazis, offer increased benefits to those that agree to be sterilized (and if that doesn't work there is always force), and within a century the U.S. population will be 100 million.
    Thankfully, I'll be dead!:)

I hope that the first people to be replaced are postal workers. Today I received two newspapers and five letters, the newspapers are mine, but the letters belong to neighbors. Tomorrow I'll be playing mailman. I wonder where my mail is?

You have no idea. None. Zero. I have family who work in the USPS realm, also been there, done that. Dude, you have no idea.
The worst people are the elderly. They believe the world is still low population, routes have a few dozen people, and they are all special and thought of by name. The truth is, routes are enormous, postal workers are mostly underpaid, taken advantage of, and many are killed on their routes because people are stupid, careless, hateful, and in a rush or couldn't care less about who delivers the mail. They have hundreds and hundreds of Amazon packages to deliver on top of all the mail, work long hours many times searching for stupid and hateful people's homes with no markings on where they live, no house numbers, rabid dogs attacking them, pissing down rain or freezing snow, every damn day and even Sundays. They often have only 1 day off per week, that's only if they are lucky enough to have a relief worker, and many offices don't...some have to run two routes, often blind with no support. Vehicles breaking down daily, those LLV's have no ABS, and accidents are so frequent it's like an episode of 24 with Keefer Sutherland with the drama and problems.

The relief is worse than anything, they are underpaid (A McDonald's employee makes twice as much) and have crap healthcare, they are treated like trash, so they don't stick around. Wonder why your mail is always messed up? Because the USPS itself is run by idiots who care nothing about the employees doing all the work. They only care about the bottom line with what revenue they can suck in. Workman's comp, good luck. So many get injured and tossed to the curb. They are too poor to fight the USPS legal team. Every rural relief carrier has to buy their own car to deliver mail to rural homes, did you know this?

Dude, there's so much more, I don't even want to continue. USPS carriers are HATED all over this country these days, but more people than ever just *click* - *click* - *click* buying from the internet on their phones every day, no clue about how much of a pain it is to deliver endless packages all across the place every day to the same people addicted to buying stuff they don't even need. And THEN there's the mail. You have no idea how many hours every morning goes into just preparing the mail, the magazines, the stupid endless junk sent to all these elderly people who have no clue, no idea whatsoever they are being scammed and taken advantage of. The right wing Trump supporters belonging to 275 mailing groups is just the best! Yeah, they get about 10 lbs. of mail every day -each. And a route can have 500 to 600 or more on them. City routes are often so bad they have to force several people to run "relays" taking packages all across town, back and forth, all day every day.

But your mail got screwed up. Waaaaaa.

Some Postal Workers love their routes, care about their customers, and truly want to always do a great job. I know many of them, have been honored to hear their stories and watch them in action. But the cranky old senile people who think they are special and moan every day about some mixed up mail...have no damn clue.

I'm NOT old or senile, and the reason that I'm cranky is that my mail is scattered all over Hell and half of Georgia! What did I miss? My utility bill? Notice from my insurance company? Bank statement? Credit card statement? Summons for jury duty? Letter from the IRS? WHAT!? Thank GOD that my paycheck and SSI are direct deposit or I'd be broke! Maybe we should do everything online, then the USPS will go broke, shut down and send their employees home! Hell, let FedEx and UPS do the job! It has gotten so bad that if I have something that HAS to go out TODAY...I take it to the post office myself!

I didn't mean to insinuate you were senile, but there are many of them. I get it, you want what you want. There are some great stories I've heard.
Here's the thing, you believe your mail is so important it's worth all this complaining and effort, right? And how much do you pay for the USPS service? A stamp here and there? Did you know that the USPS isn't funded by your tax dollars at all?

But at the end of the day, it's just your mail, right? What is that compared to a life? You pay nothing for the service every day, most people never spend a dime on USPS services. They just order Amazon or anything else, it gets delivered by USPS because their services are cheap labor. An Amazon worker in my area makes $30 per hour, most aren't English speaking or white at all. And none of them have to sort mail for hours every day on top of delivering packages. So, for about half the price, you get a USPS delivery and you wonder why a letter is sometimes mixed up? I would definitely stop mailing those important bills, stop worrying about jury duty because that's just ridiculous, and why wouldn't you take responsibility and mail your own important letters? Stop assuming the USPS is a qualified service for your business in the first place. If more people simply paid their bills online, we wouldn't even be having this discussion! I mean, seriously, it's 2025 if you're still paying bills with stamps, you've got a serious problem!

It's just strange to me. The world has changed, but so many older people don't get it. This isn't Mayberry any more. And good luck finding good help these days. Most people don't even want to work for a living. I always try to be kind to my postal workers where I live, they have it pretty rough. The last thing they need is some cranky pants yelling at them because of a newspaper or letter going missing or delivered wrong.

  15. Curious, since the usps has lost money for decades, if not tax money keeping it going, where does the money come from?
    Santa?

postage and packaging mostly. postage rates have gone way up .. it makes food inflation look tame.
but when compared to how much mail delivery costs in europe (and we don't normally burn traincars full of undelivered mail on the side track) it's pretty cheap at 78 cents a letter.

Yes, my mail is important! The USPS was created to deliver the mail, not for the benefit of the f*cking postal workers! If they can make more money working at McDonalds, then that's where they should go (they also get a uniform, discounted meals, health insurance, etc.). Just remember, that without the mail the United States of America would not exist

Don't be a retard. The USPS was privately owned once before. And the mail isn't meant to be delivered for free. You're telling people to essentially work for free because you want your letters. It's not our fault you are too incapable of using online resources or pay bills electronically. You are therefore a person too old to be given a second thought...fleeting. Once you and those like you are gone, this world will bask in the glory of everything electronic and easy.

And seriously, mail is an antiquated system. We simply do not need it. We can easily send packages and just maintain that service. For everything "letter" related, get email. You either get with the times, or stagnate and perish in stupidity.

If the postal workers are such relics from the past let's just replace them robots and send the humans home with welfare, food stamps, public housing and Medicaid. I'm glad that you have come to embrace my original idea concerning replacing the hapless humans. Once the need for a postal service is no more the robots, unlike humans, can be reprogramed to do something useful .

    [LMAO]

Silly bean. I said get rid of mail because old people are mostly senile and heavily medicated like zombies, plus they aren't going to be around too long. We still need to deliver parcels and there aren't enough robots, drones and resources to have them take over any time soon. Seriously, many people order 75 lb. bags of dog food every week, fitness equipment, you name it. Ain't seeing any Boeing drones delivering that kind of gear any time soon!
