Drug smuggling has now gotten more sophisticated using submarines and towing cargo deep under water pulling it with a fishing boat. another tactic is a sub that attaches it's self to ships going their direction making them harder to spot.

 

And failing miserably!

 

Also, some families, mine included, had a set of Encyclopedias. Of course they ultimately became outdated, but still useful. In my high school years, I actually read ours from the beginning of the A book all the way through to the end of the Z book.

 

I had to Wiki this, and male chickens & turkeys do indeed have testicles. Small white bean-shaped organs inside their bodies. Wow! Who knew?

 

I know that it's not an option, but nude would be my choice.

 

The important information never becomes outdated. The current events are neither important nor up to date. The last President in my World Books is Nixon, while the updates have Ford and Carter.

 

Encyclopedias are like photographs, they capture the "view point" of a time and a place.
Books are very dangerous to the state and often must be destroyed. Unlike most media they can not just be destroyed or lost. I have dead floppies and cd's that are in formats that I can not read. but I have copies of books from the 1600's that are just as they were written. No 404 message that might mean not available or perhaps the mark of a censor? I find that in many cases the old books online are much more useful than the latest advice which directs you to someones expensive gadget for sale. My favorite is the expensive battery sold as a power bank with a solar trickle charger and a inverter. Can build a small small real solar system for the same price now.
