We are blockading any oil going in, Mexico is on the fence and wants to send some, Russian transport planes have been spotted landing there, and China has said they would not allow the US to impart regime change. This sounds like a major cluster getting ready to develop. For anyone shortwave capable, their English broadcast starts at 00:00 UTC, 7 pm EST on 6000 khz. I plan to listen tonight to see what the news is from there. Also, there is a new sweep going across 7400 khz that wasn't there a week ago, some type of radar from the looks of it.
I have been watching it. Times are hard in Cuba. I think we are more stirring up civil unrest like Iran than planning to kidnap another dictator Venezuela style. Cubans are pretty durable and I think they will endure a bunch before rebellion.
So should I be able to get this on a small c.crane with just a stock telescope antenna. I am in Minnesota
I didn't pick them up tonight. It is on a 250KW transmitter so if they broadcast MN shouldn't be a problem. Radio China is currently on 5990 in English, non political broadcast.

The fact that this nonsense has gone on so long between the US and Cuba is - well - nonsense. Here we have a government that totally hates us and has conspired numerous times against us - yet - resides but a few miles off our coast...while we run around the world playing policeman. Another perfect example of kicking the can, the problem, down the road. Thanks to our wonderful US government. Our foreign policy should be set in concrete concerning our own hemisphere, maybe fluid in other parts of the world but for goodness sakes show some backbone, resolve and leadership in our own part of the world. Also, food for thought, Venezuela and Cuba are both excellent examples of what happens when the People lose control of their government and how horribly difficult, if not impossible, it is to gain back control. We should really take notice of this...less it happens here which is exactly what the Left is pushing towards.

The lowest frequency radar I've heard of is more like a hundred MHz. It would be so low fidelity it would be like "there's something over there, maybe" it would be the equivalent of an everything is okay alarm.
This is well said. I did a paper on Communism in school and to be honest, if you look at it on paper it looks - well - perfect, the perfect society. The only problem I could come up with is in reality it simply doesn't work because of the nature of man. How do you pay a ditch digger the same as a doctor even though the latter is contributing much more to society. What about those that have more motivation, better ideas, are more creative... While it looks good in print, communism is just a fairy tale used to capture the masses for control. Hell, look at China, they have changed communism so much that it is no longer true communism because they didn't have a choice as it was killing the nation.
In some respects, yes, an unfriendly neighboring government or one that at least that is considered unfriendly. However, how we have dealt with it shows the difference between our two nations and our governments. Russia foreign policy is 'might makes right' and it damn near worked which I would argue could have a cascading effect in the future, it worked once so it would work again. I would also point out that the people of Ukraine have shown with blood that they indeed want a democracy and want no part of Russia or Putin. The people of Cuba, like Venezuela, haven't really had a choice in how they are to be governed and as an island nation, makes it much simpler to maintain its rule. Maybe they are okay with that and maybe not but one thing for sure is they have felt its economic and totalitarian effects. I would imagine by now, after numerous years, that many Cubans are brainwashed, much like many North Koreans; however, not all for America being so close has always had an effect if nothing more than the dream and prospect of a better and safer life. Anyway, yeah, in some regards it might be the same but how it has been dealt with are totally different which should make all Americans proud...maybe we at least got that right.
Well, at least the Cubans won't freeze in the dark when the power goes off. I pity the folks in the cities, might not be so bad for those in rural areas, until the "golden hoards" show up.
