Our call center is currently experiencing a major transition, leading to a high volume of Parts Swap / Upgrade and customer requests for information, replacement parts, repairs, and other inquiries. We are working hard to address these issues promptly and professionally. Thank you for notifying us about this information. I'm sending this to our higher ups. Thank you! Pedro probably will not affect function but is rather unsightly… also told them I would put this info out on all firearms related boards… 22tcm is a nice round and is kinda an ar in a hand gun… goes out fast low recoil accurate… souped up 22 I guess…
Seems cut and dried to me. You purchased a new firearm, but either the metal quality was poor or the manufacturing, so much so it rusted. Complete refund and/or a new firearm is due you. It will be interesting to see how they handle it...
I'm guessing you bought this online? No way I would have bought that after looking at it at a store. Sorry, but that is a lame excuse from Rock Island. If they got the pictures with proof of purchase for the date, they should have given you a shipping label to either send the whole gun back or just the barrel for replacement. Better yet, we'll ship you a barrel, please return the defective one. Seems like the quality of just about everything is going to the crapper these days.
I wonder how long that was stuck on a container ship in the moist salt air before it actually made it from the Mfg to the retailer.
Even then if it is quality steel and manufacturing it should not have happened. At the very minimum it looks like they didn't properly put protective oil on it if bought new. One part to the story is where did the OP purchase it from? I can't imagine a reputable gun store doing that. A pawn shop or face to face sale, sure. Me personally, I don't cheap out on firearms. I know guys like a bargain as much as the next guy but I get leary about the quality when it's something that I consider life saving tools.
That is a major no-go at this station, yes RIA is the poor man’s choice, but that is simply unacceptable even with the $829 MSRP.
I've got an RIA 1911 in 45acp. slicked it up a bit and added better grips. Didn't have any quality issues out of the box on it other than some sharp edges that have since been burnished/polished And yes, it was way less expensive than other 1911s.
