Yep, did that in my IT career, before getting a full-featured GPS. And later used the GPS app on my smartphone, which was more accurate and though with fewer features (no waypoints, backtracking, map upload/download,vetc) was very convenient. (y)

I used a map as a kid. Learned about strip maps on convoys in the Marine Corps, kept using them after I retired. Used GPS until I had one that was 2-10 miles off on a trip to Atlanta. Went back to strip maps. Never a problem. Plan my whole trip, with side trips weeks in advance. Miss nothing.

I wonder if the lady in the white Honda Civic that drove right off the end of Mock-up Road into the Intracoastal Waterway still uses GPS? There is no way a map would lead you to the end of Mock-up Rd if you were trying to get to a barracks at Courthouse Bay. I don't think they ever put up a barricade or any signs at the end of the straight section. It just ends at the water. Everybody that has any business down there knows this.

Haha! During both my military hitches, our SSN was our ID number, for everything. That is one number I'll never forget, even decades later. (y)

A few times I've had GPS lead me astray. Once checking my Delorme map got me back on track. On a trip with Mom up to Indiana, GPS had us going the wrong way. Mom's 78 year old memory got us straightened out. She had some short term memory issues but her long term memory was sharp as a tack.
Another time a buddy and I riding our motorcycles offroad on singletrack in the woods followed the GPS route saying a road was ahead. It ran us up into some guy's backyard in the woods! Luckily he was cool. Directed us the correct way to the road. I alwas carried paper maps, but that time they just didn't have the detail for where we were.

    Unhinged.

I met a guy at the range that ripped the top completely off soda cans with his teeth. I watched him to it. About six chomps on the rim and he'd peel the top right off. The whole top, pulled it right off the body of the can. Drank the soda like it was in a glass. He said he'd been doing it since he was a kid.

I can hardly do it with tools.
