Widowed almost three years. Still going it alone. Has its advantages. I do what I want when I want, spend money on what I want without objections.

Still be nice to have some female company, maybe not quite so close as to share bank accounts though.

Well I guess I can chime in here LOL. Since April 2023 73 dates and a couple of few Month dead end trial runs and pretty sure I have met every level of Crazy possible in women #73 has been with me right at a year now. And has acceptable levels of crazy in mostly good ways LOL. At Least she has not tried to poison me......... or plotted to kill me in other ways yet...........

Yes sir ,,I was thinking about your trials and tribulations of the dating world when I was posting ,, and actually thought ,,, " I shouldn't even be posting ,, T5R has the say on this subject " ,,, you've put your time in the trenches ,, that's for sure . Carry on, sir .

 

I worked in a shop on snow cats in the mountains so it's a small town.
One of the guys was talking about his wife problems and another asked her name, come to find out both men had the same woman and the previous husband warned the second all about her, she had been playing the same game all over town.
The plus and minuses of the small town, any woman is well known all over town, the good and the bad.
Where women are harder to find, the problem is exponential.
Another problem too is, as the economy deteriorates the more desperate they become, and say anything they think you want to hear, characteristics/values they know should exist in their lives but in truth it miles from the truth.
Biggest problem is people don't have the care in finding a mate the way one is in pursuant of a hiring an employee.
Too anxious to make the tie and haste is the prime factor in failure.
Both men and women are deceptive, few show their real colors.
Ideally one needs to observe how a person handles real problems, and this can take years.

 

This is gonna sound like some kind of romance novel ,, in a way ,,,but yrs ago ,, a good buddy of mine,,we went to high school together,, rode dirt bikes together. After school,, we parted ways for a while .
A few yrs later ,, we meet up ,, he's dating this gal ,,, real nice girl ,, looks and personality. A yr or so goes by ,, I move to the beach with a buddy of ours . Still talking ,, but not seeing much of the hometown friends.
One day I get a letter in the mail ,,, real nice handwriting,,, proper and all that good shit. It was a secret admirer letter !!! I read that thing 20 times ,, trying to think of who had that handwriting,,, all the girls back home were still happily with my old buddies ,,,, " except" ,, for my dirtbike buddy ,, But they were still together when she sent that letter. But I didn't know who she was till later. I had decided to join the Corps ,,traveled around a little bit ,, before going home to do the paperwork,, and wait for my ship out day .
During this time ,, she found out I was coming home ,, and split with my buddy. But she didn't split till she knew I was coming home ,, and I still didn't know who this secret admirer was . I still thought it was a bullshit letter.
After a week or so,, I'm meeting up with the old clan ,, and shes there ,, without my buddy ,, and then tells me she's the secret admirer. I was shocked ,, complete loss of words.
Long story short ,, we went out a few times ,, but ,, I couldn't do it , Bro's before Ho's ,,, you got to have some morals ,,, that was mine . I knew he was hurt from their split. And this gal put a big wedge in me and my buddy's friendship ,,, I tried to talk with him and tell him ,, that I wouldn't do that to him ,, but he wouldn't listen to it .
Long story short ,, I joined the Corps ,,, he joined the Army ,,, we even sent mail to each other in boot camp ,, we were both in at the same time. Him in Missouri,, me at P.I. ,,,
I haven't seen the guy in 40+ yrs ,, but when I did see him after boot camp ,, I tried to tell him the truth ,, but he wouldn't listen . The gal broke his heart ,, and he thinks I f'kd him over . He never did hear the truth .
I lost a brother ,,, and he lost a nutrag .
Get your priorities right guys ,,,,Bros before Ho's fellas ,,,,

LOL I was just going to Lurk this one out........ But........ Yeah I didn't LOL. I will say that If/When #73 bails on me I am just done with the whole relationship thing beyond a friends with benefits and having dinner now and then. The company and companionship is nice on the one side of the coin. On the other side of the coin there is the drama, the fabrication of problems where there are none......... just so there is a problem in the relationship to work on. And over the last year the "You Need to work on this and Change that! "
Now I have done very well through life just being me and the way I am. I have continued to do well in my youngish retirement. When the subject of a legal marriage arises and I start getting prodded to start using my own retirement investments to support US when I was doing just fine living on the Survivor Pension alone and will triple my Monthly income in 2 years and 5 Month on my 60th Birthday by claiming the Survivor SSD benefits. I see no reason in the world to start pulling from the ROTH IRA I rolled all but a couple of fixed rate annuities into. My total Monthly Bills are $550-$700 per Month. The Pension deposits $2088 per Month and I did keep a couple hundred thousand out of the New ROTH..... Just in case. I turn 60 and I shoot up to $6800ish per Month in Survivor benefits income. LOL it would be stupid to use my own retirement investments when I have the income to liability ratio I have now and just full retard to use it after I turn 60. But as it is right now we have like $1300-$1450 per Month surplus money to play with from the Survivor Pension.

So I started a big argument a couple days ago when she was complaining about not having enough money. I suggested that if she wants more money that maybe she should get a job and contribute to the financial pool. LOL I bought a 2025 Toyota RAV4 with 16,000 miles on it for her to use and drive around....... Title in my name only LOL. Finally advised her that a Legal Marriage is not on the table now anymore than when she moved here. Nope I am not putting her name on my property deeds, vehicle or boat titles or putting half of everything I spent a lifetime earning and building at risk for her or any other woman. Seems to me when she has No Bills, and all of the needs covered with plenty of spare money to take care of reasonable wants, and a new car for her to run around in........... She has a pretty sweet deal going on. So what started the argument was when I laid that all out and asked her why she would push for more and run a high risk of me taking her back to NC and dumping her off where I found her??? OK I know I am not MR Tact but still............ LOL I have been MR Mean, cold, emotionless and greedy for 3 days solid now. My thoughts on it is she can get over it or go back to NC and not with my New Car LOL.

It has been my experience since I started dating after being widowed that the Stronger and More Independent a Woman Claims to be the quicker she will try to attach herself to you like a tick. And is very eager to transform instantly into Your Dependent. There is also no shortage of actually real strong independent women that have no interest in a relationship beyond monogamous friends with benefits that want nothing more from you than some companionship and doing things together a day or two per week and going our separate ways to live our own separate lives until the next get away. No shortage of mental patients lurking around out there as well LOL. I think when if 73 falls through I will just run solo for a while and then probably settle into one of the FWB options available. Sorry but I am a fully functional 57 year old with a high drive and no interest in Pornhub and Fleshlights LOL. If I want self service I will go to the gas station or the self checkout at the store

My last full time gal of 5 yrs ,,when we split up ,, a month or so later ,, I was a little bummed out,, sitting in the recliner after work ,, drinking a cold beer ,, watching TV,,, then all of a sudden,,, it hit me like a ton of bricks ,,, I was like ,,, dammit man ,,, this is as peaceful as it gets . From that very moment,, I've not really had any desire to move another one in with me. I really have no desire to even bring them to my home,, I let them do the hosting .

 

Best to have that warm body lined up before SHTF, because afterward it would most likely lead to a host of problems. These problems might include getting the cold-shoulder, a home invasion by her relatives, being locked out of the house, or death (be it by rat poison in your coffee, a knife in the back, a frying pan to the head, a shot in the dark, etc.). Just remember, that after SHTF a lot of folks are gonna be desperate and willing to do almost anything for a few pounds of food or $1.00 face-value of silver coins. They are also gonna be dirty, greasy and smelly. Sydney Sweeney isn't even gonna be doable about a month or two in, not without a bath(s) and a makeover. Your preps should also include condoms, K-Y, meds, toys, batteries (lots and lots of batteries) and anything else you may need.

 

Maybe she just wants to know that she will be taken care of in the event that you die. If you were to drop dead tomorrow your heirs could kick her out with nothing but the clothes on her back and little else. You don't have to marry her, and you don't have to leave everything to her, but maybe just let her know that provisions have been made so that she will have something.

 

I knew of a guy that married a Russian woman, about 30-years ago, and as soon as they got back here, he got her a bank-box in her name and her name only, in it she kept her Russian Passport and $1000 in cash, which he gave her. He told her that he wanted her to be able to go home, if she needed to (funeral) or wanted to (unhappy). Thirty years later, they are still married, and she never had to use the money. I always though his actions were those of a real Southern gentleman.
