Sam Clemmons is said to have once quipped, "I never allow my education to interfere with learning." Or something to that effect. The dumbest people I know have university degrees. Somebof the smartest people I know just finished high school.

 

During my Navy ship's deployment in 1983, we were in the Indian Ocean and got our latest unrep (underway replenishment) done. One thing delivered by helicopter onto our helo deck was a load of toilet paper. The Navy uses local sources often when overseas. I'm not sure what country that TP came from, but it was rougher than recycled brown paper towels! The "milk" sucked too, try eating your breakfast cereal with shelf stable condensed milk mixed with water. Yuck!
The good thing was our baker would bake fresh bread with dough made from scratch - heavenly after having the storebought junk.

 

I remember GI toilet paper rolls that were slick like a cash register receipt and so thin there was about 3/4 of a mile on each roll.

This was the classic "John Wayne" shit paper we were issued. It didn't take shit off anybody.

 

90 vaccines? Holy smoke!!

I got diphtheria, tetanus, pertussis (whooping cough), smallpox, and poliomyelitis (polio) vaccines. As a child I had chicken pox, scarlet fever and mumps.

When I joined the Marines I got vaccinated for just about everything, including plague and a bunch of experimental Japanese encephalitis. Recently I've added the pneumonia and shingles vaccines. I think I'll stand pat on those. Haven't even had a flu shot since 2020.

I don't think even the Marine Corps gets 90 vaccines. 32 seems like a huge number. I think the kids got MMR (Mumps, measels and rhubella)
Don't remember any others. I do remember #1 Son launching the nurse into the air with a kick to the groin when she was trying to give him a shot. He was always a big boy, and strong as two men, even when he was "little."
