    2/3 classes is still really good! I'm so glad that your hip is healing so well. Keep doing what you're doing!

    This is week #12/12 and I'm looking forward to taking a week off next week! We got a brand new home in a climate we love which is super exciting. I think this is a great change! There's no HOA. On the first day, the next door neighbor (who lives off grid in a tiny shack) came out armed and threatened to shoot our drone if we ever flew it here again and he was a white guy who said he's been here for 20 years and is sick of people coming from the mainland and building new houses. It's ironic because my great grandmother has lived here since 1800 and my Grandma was born and raised on this island...
    We wrote a "sorry about the drone" card and left a 24 pack of beer because we don't want problems with the neighbors. Next day he said that they don't drink so I asked him if he knew anyone who could enjoy it. He said the card was enough and introduced himself so I think for now things are okay. Yikes!

    Haha, a trick I use at work, winning them over. It’s part of my upcoming self-defense class too. Avoiding conflict with members and/or coworkers is the best self-defense. In my mind I can whoop them if I had to so that’s good enough for me. Lol.

    Yesterday I completed my 12 week training program and felt really strong. It's the first time that I wasn't injured this entire time and it makes a huge difference! It was a chaotic and stressful time with putting in offers, buying a property, moving, hosting my partner's Dad, and still processing grief.

    There were lots of "what's the point?" and "why try?" moments and times when I felt like I was on the edge of burnout. Thankfully, I was flexible, rested when necessary, and made adjustments. Now I'm glad that I didn't quit when I wanted to so many times.

    Last night there was a 5.9 earthquake which is the strongest one we've had in a long time. The epicenter was on the other side of the island, but we used it as an opportunity to practice packing up our cats and evacuating. All went smoothly and by the time we came back, the burritos we ordered were ready to arrive too.

    How are you doing and what is new and exciting in your world? Are you enjoying this Memorial Day weekend?

    On Sundays I pray, care for all of my houseplants, and set goals for the new week.

    The big question right now is, should I bring my hens (chickens) here or not? Chickens make a property way more lively and fun, but they do require care and can be messy. What's your vote? This could be a purely garden lot, but it might not hurt to do some homesteading. Lately, we have been brewing mead. I'm not big on drinking it, but I do enjoy the process.

    I smile a lot by nature too. Who’s going to smack a public employee with a smile on his face? Lol. I believe my class is the 2nd Tuesday of June. Voluntary attendance and voluntary participation. (Minus one apprentice, he’s going to feel some pain!) If it bombs then I just fade away. Lol.

    I bet you have a great smile. I am also known for smiling, but am trying to find my smile again. It faded a lot with the grief this year and feeling like I lost not just my dad, but also my mom and sister (by my own choice, but still hurts.)
    June 2nd is right around the corner. Is this going to be your first class? How exciting!

    I started my deload week today and why is it that little aches and pains always manage to show up on these weeks when I'm not doing anything, but when I'm training hard, I'm fine? Today it's a pain in my neck and upper back. I'll do some stretching and should probably start foam rolling.

    I decided to bring 2 of my new chickens home, but sadly, Delilah escaped and of course she flew straight to the drone hating neighbor's foresty area. I hope that I will be able to lure her to my property. Since we haven't moved the coop yet, my chicken Angel Lemon Queen is staying in one of the bedrooms of my house and she was extremely vocal and unsatisfied with her accommodations. Lol. Having a chicken in one of our bedrooms (laid down a tarp, put down feeders and perches, and treated her for mites and parasites) was not part of the plan and the only thing that calmed her down for the night was me singing her lullabies. It was funny to see her fall asleep.

    On another note, the church that had my Dad's funeral church service on youtube took it down and it feels like a loss. I think I was watching it at least once a week...

    Does it work to tuck a chicken’s head under its wing to make it fall asleep? I remember pheasants fall asleep in seconds if you do that.

    I'm so curious about this. I'm not sure and want to try it the next time I have a chance. Do you have pheasants? There are wild pheasants here and they are so mild mannered (compared to the chickens) and very beautiful.
    This morning I decided to bring my chicken back to the home that she loves. It was so cute to see how excited she was. She rushed to her favorite flowers and pepper plant. I think it was the right decision.

    Somehow these little aches and pains never fail to show up during rest week when I doing the least. This morning I woke up with a pinched nerve on the right side of my neck. It's ironic that it happened after I took an epsom salt bath last night. I took out my foam roller and lacrosse ball and have been doing gentle stretches today.

    Hope you are all having a wonderful week with minimal aches and pains.

    I’m still consistently doing my PT and going to another appointment Friday. Doc wasn’t too helpful last visit in my opinion, wants to see me in a year. Lol. Hopefully the progress will continue and I’ll be back to my normal self soon. July is another Jiu Jitsu tournament at the Puyallup Fairgrounds, we shall see how I do.

    Great job on your pt! I'm glad that you're feeling better and admire you for sticking with it. This year, I also felt like my doctor wasn't that helpful overall and I'm glad that my next annual won't be until next May.
    I know I'm always saying this, but I can't believe that July is already next month! Puyallup brings back so many memories and so do the fairgrounds! I love hearing about your adventures. It makes me feel like I'm still connected to my hometown state from a distance.

    Happy June everyone!
    I started my new training program this week and am happy that the little aches and pains dissipated in time. Emotions are kind of up and down this week and I'm trying to move through it with grace. My nervous system is probably adjusting to these changes and even though they are great changes, it still takes a little time.

    Taught all week. Also did my self-defense class at work on Tuesday. I’m my own worst critic of course but I got really good feedback. Whew! lol.

    I finished week #2/10 of this new program and feel really strong. I call my new workout space a "gym-rage" like a garage, but a gym, but it's also different because it's more of a carport. I feel a lot more at ease ever since we made peace with the neighbor. It turns out that they are growing flowers, hence the fear of drones, but overall I think things are going to be good out here. It is so peaceful and beautiful and has a true "castle in the clouds" feel to it.
