Yep, I remember watching the Desert War on TV news at the time. He was very well known and popular. A real "Fighting General" in the tradition of Patton, though not a prima donna like Patton and Monty. He was all business - the business of winning a war. o_O(y)

My ancestors came home from the Civil War, and in the 7 generations since no one has served, because we didn't enlist and they don't draft farmers. Thank y'all for your service. Down here we celebrate both memorial days, last Sundays in April and May.

I had many military family members. I was named after an uncle who died stateside in the US Army during WWII. Mom's youngest brother Larry was a supply Msgt in the USAF during the Vietnam War. Dad's youngest brother Purvis was in the Navy about the same time. My Dad served two hitches in the USAF in the late 1950s, missing Korea by a couple years. Finally I served four years as an Avionics Tech in the USAF 1976-1980 and then six years as an Electronic Tech in the US Navy 1980-1986. I tell people I served "tween wars", no combat though my little ship did brazenly cross Kadaffy's "Line Of Death" several times during our 1983 deployment, but he never came out to play. Those Navy Tomcats had bloodied his nose well, back in '81. ;)

Grand dad worked in a gun powder factory during WW1.
Dad joined the Army and was shipped to the Aleutian Islands. Armed combat and arial strafing and driving crash truck at the airport This was such a hated experience that he prayed his kids were not subject to this torture.
My big brother, born with out a left hand was rejected from military service, though he is a great mechanic and raced motorcycles but served in the Civil Air Patrol.
I did alternate service for the draft for the California division of Forestry fighting fires and floods 2 years, also served in the Sheriffs Search and Rescue 5 years.
I have had man friends that served in the army, some with horrific bitter tales to tell, some even left behind during combat.
Many of our neighborhood friends never came home from the different branches of service they went into, a great debt we owe them. and thanks to all you that served some how as well.

It's a little different situation,, but I think our Secretary of War ,, Lt. Col. Hegseth is a bulldog as well ,,,
Military ventures is a do or die venture ,,,
You go all in ,,, balls to the wall ,,, or you can expect more bodybags ,,, not trying to be disrespectful,, just my belief,, hit'em hard,, fast,, and continuous,,, don't give'em time to reload .
This is what I hate about this Iran crap,,, everytime we give them time to negotiate another truce ,,, we're leaving time for counter attacks ,,, jmo,,,

USS Ainsworth FF-1090, An ASW Frigate, smaller than a destroyer. My overseas deployment was the first half of 1983, Med/IO. Overall an enjoyable cruise, though a few port visits got cancelled when we had to replace another frigate that was damaged in a storm. o_O(y)

She she be ousted from her political office for being clearly antiAmerican and openly subversive. How can such a "civil servant" possibly do her job of "serving the people" when she openly disrespects the people and the office in which she is employed? If she is an immigrant I would demand she be deported back to whatever stinking Hell hole she came from. She does not deserve the benefits she is getting here in the United States.
