Fiction story was zotted

I have been a long standing member on another survival forum, but the times are changing. I occasionally write some fiction. Over the last month I began a story about using those large concrete culverts as an underground bunker.

While the story is posted in the books section, a few members must have assumed it was for real. The last post covered a scenario about the local county using drones for spying. I had described the drone dropping in under the canopy of trees on my property and actually staring me in the face.

The next time that drone was at eye level, I took it out with a 22 rifle. For this content the post was deleted. I had just typed this chapter up last night on a whim, not even making a copy for myself.

I was informed that it promoted illegal activity. I cant think of any survival story not just centered around rainbows and unicorns that does not include some form of altercation, be it murder, rape, espionage, or anything that could be considered against the law.

I have many posts on this one site that have thousands of hits. Several current ones go back nearly ten years. I am seriously considering removing all of my content from this site and just walking away.

Since the site had been sold to a corporation in another country, it seems they are restricting a lot of its content. About two years ago, there were a whole new set of rules that severely limited what could or not be discussed.

While I understand how politics can become a heated topic, having a survival story that is not from a natural disaster will always have some political bias to it. So dealing with a conundrum and not sure what to do. That old adage, Act is haste... may be something to consider here.

I find it disturbing if this site has been sold to nonAmerican entities. That is a big reason I left and banned from my devices another prepper-oriented site I had been a longtime member of. Once the new owners took over, the censorship increased by several orders of magnitude. I truly hope this isn't so here.

Welcome to the tree @Lost Cabin. I migrated here years ago after similar fiction bans. I thought it was odd that anyone would think we were missing out on "actual reality" (their term) because we enjoyed reading some fiction.

There are several active authors here, whose stories I enjoy. I don't think you'll have any trouble with the mods here. Not sure they even read the fiction stories. By posting a bubble in the thread title that says "Original Work" I think everybody understands it's a work of fiction. Some include an additional disclaimer, some don't.

Pull up a branch and tell us a story. We're always looking for exciting new stories.

……I do not believe he is referring to this site and I certainly do not believe that it is at all the case with this site.

Absolutely not this site. I dont know how that came across. The main downside to this site is lack of members and participation. Now I am a big fan of sharkman who posts great stories on here and several other sites. He has been a big inspiration to me in learning how to write. His Uncle Evans story had me so upset at the end, I even posted an alternative ending hoping he would not kill the story. You know imitation is the purest form of flattery. A lot of thumbs up on to keep him alive. But I accepted that Uncle Evans was no more.

My story has no gory blood and guts, not hate, nothing more than tying to current events to make it seem more real. The last chapter is what got the mods all pissy. It was deleted. In the story I shot down a nosy drone that was violating my personal space on private land. I was informed it promotes illegal activity.

I sure dont know about most people, but if a drone swoops done in my front yard, it is toast. Flying up overhead above the trees is one thing, but in my face is a considered a threat to my life.

There is another chapter I included some information about a threat assessment by Homeland Security during the Obama Administration. While the document is completely factual, the replies only discounted its existence. I feel like that site has been taken over by a liberal mindset.

Good. It seems he is teferring to "that site" that I left too. It was sad seeing a once good site go down the toilet, but I:ve seen the same happen to two van-dwellong sites I used to enjoy too. Once the spectre of rabid liberal censorship takes hold, it ruins a website. I've been here a long time and look forward to continued good times. (y)

True. I said I wasn't sure they read fiction, not that I wasn't sure they could read. I like them just fine where they are... in the background, keeping us all safe from this guy.

Things are looking better, but the other forum isn't. The one chapter of story that had been deleted, I did not have a copy. It was written on a whim when posted.

One mod is totally on my side but admitted he was low man in the hierarchy. But is retrieving the deleted chapter, so I don't loose all that effort.

He had been enjoying my story and fought for me, but completely shot down. Figuratively speaking of course.

When I get it back, will post it in the reading section so you guys can give your opinion.

All my fiction was moved as well.
It's parked in an area "shielded" from the casual visitor. Members should be able to see the fiction.

@Lost Cabin - I'll call the site out by name - Survivalist forums (SB). I've been on there since 2014. It was sold to a Canadian outfit. Politically correct as a country is an understatement. The recent changes may be because of Canadian Govt pressure or trying to avoid same.

They recently hired a new 'content manager' & now some posts go to several other sites, and the content manager seems to only post 'questions' designed to troll for click$.

I watched the old Zombie Squad site implode after some hyper-sensitive Mods got on a 'no politics' bent. Destroyed the board.

Like you, I'm seriously thinking of bailing, the only reason I have not is owing to several 'chat biddies' on the board.

The site I had to quit was a different one but also sold to a Canadian company. Hmmm... are the wily liberal Canucks buying up our once-Conservative prepper/firearm sites in order to shut us down? That would be despicable.

The company is a digital data firm, VerticalScope that now owns hundreds of niche online forums and the like. Initially operated under a subsidiary Second Meida Corp / Carbon Media Corp.

Now for some real news. I made my first contributing post here in the reading section. Please take a moment and try it out.

DKR, I would really like to hear your opinion of my work. Please dont hold back. You can be brutally honest. I can take it.
