Just watched this tonight. Classic Robert Redford, the movie is 25 years old now. I served in the Navy, and this is more Army-based, but I believe they did a pretty decent job with it.

If you have a smart TV, you should be able to find it on the streaming channel "Pluto TV". Also available on Hoopla, if your local library offers that.

Damned if that didn't bring back some memories,,, I could add to it ,, the PT I had to do ,, because I took a recruits pack during our 10 mile force march ,, because he was slowing down ,, and stretching out the platoon ,,, man did I ever catch hell for that,,,I wouldn't trade it for nothing in this world,,,

 

About day four in Boot Camp we were running a timed mile on a track. The whole series, if not more recruits on the field. I could run, walk, run a seven minute mile. I had just gotten up to speed on a run segment and there's a Drill Instructor standing right in front of me. We collided chest to chest and bounced off like cartoon characters.
When we had regained the ability to breathe, he was yelling and pointing for me to "GO!". That way.

I never saw him again, but it wasn't the last time I assaulted a Drill Instructor.

 

Awww,, Boot Camp stories ,,,
We had a Ssgt. Dunn ,,, we had him for about a month ,, then he picked up his own platoon . That dude got in your face ,, screaming and yelling,, and spraying spit ,,, luckily,, I was squared away enough to keep him out of my face .
I was happy when he picked up his own platoon ,,, but I sure felt sorry for the ones he got .
