My thermostat can be set as low as 45F, I wonder how many that will kill?

 

Back in the late 1980s or early 1990s, the Global Powers That Be discovered that something was creating a 'hole' in the ozone layer, and that something was Freon. Yes, Freon, that which makes AC possible, not to mention cold drinks and ice to go in them. At that time the world, that is to say the United States of America, ran on R-12 Freon. The GPTB wanted the United States to give up R-12 Freon to save the world, and we said, "Hell No! Not until there is a replacement!". I convinced my Father to purchase a lot of R-12 Freon, and I mean a LOT! We kept our homes, businesses (selling cold beer was our business) and cars cold for 3 or 4 years until the kinks got worked out, and prices and supply of the replacement stabilized. The world has no idea just how close they came to a war with a lot of hot pissed-off Americans. I'm an American, that means I can sleep at night, I have a refrigerator/freezer that dispenses cold water and ice, I drink ice cold beer, my car has AC, as does my workplace, that's the way it is and that's the way it's gonna stay!
