Last time I saw them was at the USO in St Louis.

 

Old C-rats had the 4 pack of smokes as well.

 

Every time I think about C-rations two memories come to mind. One good, one bad. The good one was when we were issued them in the barracks and there's a picture of us somewhere all sitting around some stacked foot lockers with our meals all laid out like a dinner table. The memory isn't complete without adding that we were on the second deck, and a couple inches of water was flowing through the barracks from a typhoon raging outside. Those were good times.

The bad memory was the can of C-ration peanut butter I had found while on guard duty. I had some crackers, and when I got off post I took out my P38 John Wayne can opener and pierced the lid. Instead of enjoying some peanut butter and crackers I got sprayed with rancid peanut oil. It was horrible. I couldn't get the stench off of me and was lucky I didn't get kicked out of my tent.
