Ron Paul wins here where it counts GOP hopeful takes county convention despite defeats in primary, caucus It appears that solid strategy and a well-organized grassroots campaign put Ron Paul on top at the Whatcom County Republican Party convention this weekend. While there are no hard figures yet, county GOP Chairman Chet Dow said it appears that Paul received the majority of delegates who will be sent to the summer state convention in Spokane. From there, delegates will be selected for the national convention. How did that happen when Paul had neither the most delegates from the county caucuses nor the primary in February? "One word: organization," Dow said. There were several factors, Dow said. One was that people who had pledged to represent another candidate during the caucuses didn’t all show up to the county convention, changing the mix. Then, at the county convention, people didn’t vote for a candidate, they voted for the delegate to send to the convention. Dow said some people seeking to be a delegate didn’t state their candidate preference, although most did. The Paul campaign appears to have created a strong voting bloc, Dow said. Other strategies that also paid off: The convention went so long — 9 a.m. to after 11 p.m. Saturday — that Paul supporters dug in their heels, and when others began going home, they stayed and maintained a strong presence. The 40th District caucus at the convention was small, and the Paul supporters were able to elect people supporting their delegate to all six delegate positions from that area. Dow said he was pleased with how the convention turned out, and he was impressed with the Paul supporters. "They’re happy. They should be happy," he said. "They should be proud of what they have accomplished." Those delegates will determine the state GOP platform this spring and help select the presidential delegates to the national Republican presidential convention in Minneapolis in September. The unorthodox push, which sparked shouting matches in some meetings, reflected Paul's campaign — an anti-establishment, grass-roots movement built on passion. "This is a movement for change in the long term," said Ruth Carlson, a 24-year-old secretary from St. John who helped organize Saturday's push in the St. Louis area. At many of Saturday's caucuses, the Paul contingents also won approval for some of their man's key positions, including resolutions for withdrawing U.S. troops from Iraq and Afghanistan, and against the federal Patriot Act and warrantless wiretaps. But the most politically explosive resolution called for repealing the Missouri Republican Party requirement that all of the state's 58 GOP presidential delegates back the victor in the Feb. 5 primary: U.S. Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., now the presumptive presidential nominee. In Missouri's presidential contest, Paul obtained less than 5 percent of the statewide Republican vote. Missouri leaders of Saturday's pro-Paul effort insist that they're not driven by a quest to resurrect his chances for the White House. Carlson and other Paul supporters say their aim is to force the Missouri Republican Party to embrace Paul's principles. "We're not holding out an illusion that Ron is going to win the nomination," said Debbie Hopper, Paul's national field director. "This is about calling the Republican Party back to its roots." Hopper — who lives in Fenton and was herself elected a delegate Saturday at a caucus in St. Louis County — cited other caucus successes by pro-Paul supporters in other states, including Nevada, Colorado and Washington. But Missouri Republican officials plan to fight back. State Republican Party Executive Director Jared Craighead said party leaders will be examining the lists of caucus-goers, and of the newly elected state delegates. He contends that some of the Paul activists involved in the caucuses were really Democrats or Libertarians who should be tossed off. However, St. Louis city Republican Chairwoman Judy Zakibe joined Bennett in asserting that some of the blame lies with Republican elected officials and party activists who stayed home Saturday. "Our people didn't come out," Zakibe said. "That's what cost us." But Bennett accused the Paul forces of deception. At the St. Charles County caucus, Paul backers did not identify themselves as such. Instead they promoted a group of proposed delegates they called the Conservative Values slate. "They went out of their way not to use 'Ron Paul,'" Bennett said. "Intellectually they were dishonest about their reasons." Still, Bennett had to appreciate their success: "I'll hand them kudos for being activists. I'll hand them kudos for being organized." Brent Stafford, a computer analyst from O'Fallon who headed the pro-Paul forces in St. Charles County, gave credit to his side's stealth preparations, which included mock caucuses. Whatever happens, organizer Carlson said Saturday's victories should prove that Republican Party leaders can't ignore Ron Paul, his views or his supporters. She added with a chuckle: "We're not just a bunch of people on the Internet. We show up."

Not drawing crowds emphasizes the conservative aspects of gun owners and survival mindedness. Most will not willingly advertise that there are stores or guns in the house, and expose themselves to neighborhood paranoia or burglary. There is yet hope of support that is not worn on Ts and hats or advertised in letters to the editor, or signs in the yard. Those crowds represent (to me) enthusiasm that may, and more often than not is, emotional rather than based in reality or proper thought. A manifestation of mass hysteria only.
The question is not whether RP can be elected. At this stage the chance is low - BUT! BUT! BUT! - if the RP activists stay in the party, they can affect major change in the long term.
TPTB still trying to silence Ron Paul and his message State Republicans Announce Date to Finish Convention, Local Man says Too Late Five weeks ago, the state Republican convention suddenly came to an end after organizers realized more supporters of Ron Paul than John McCain would be going to the National Convention in Minneapolis this September. Now the Chair of the Washoe County Republican Party and a local Republican are at odds. Basically, the state party and Dr. Wayne Terhune disagree about how and when the convention should wrap up. Terhune says it should be done as soon as possible and the party is content to wait until the deadline. April 26th at The Peppermill was the first time the state party tried to get its business done it one day, says Washoe County Republican Party Chair, Heidi Smith. In a Wednesday evening teleconference, the Nevada Republican Party set July 26 as the date for delegates to reconvene in Reno at the Peppermill and complete the state convention that fell apart in April when national convention delegates couldn't be elected in the time allotted. Party leaders blamed a rule change pushed by supporters of presidential candidate Ron Paul, who represented a large proportion of the more than 1,300 convention delegates. A Court Victory for Republicans in Texas Wednesday afternoon in Harris County Texas, Judge Tom Sullivan issued a temporary restraining order to a group of Republican delegates and party officials seeking to force the state Republican convention to comply with Texas election law and elect officers for the convention before conducting other convention business. A further hearing on the case will be held on Monday, June 9 to discuss charges of irregularities at various county conventions. The State Republican Convention is scheduled to start in Houston on the 12th. The Credentials Committee appointed by these temporary officers has been meeting in advance of the convention and is considering a move to challenge and potentially disqualify the entire delegations from Nueces, Parker, and Galveston counties where Ron Paul supporters had won delegate seats far out of proportion to his showing in the primary voting. They will be meeting again next week to decide if these delegates should be disqualified. Ron Paul Has Strong Showing in Final Primaries Thursday June 5, 2:13 pm ET ARLINGTON, Va.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Presidential candidate Ron Paul received a total of over 45,000 votes in the final three Republican presidential primaries on June 3. Dr. Paul’s strongest showing was in Montana, where he garnered 22 percent of the vote, followed by 17 percent in South Dakota and 14 percent in New Mexico respectively. Our elections and our economy have been compromised In light of the coming elections, I believe that there are some things people should know and act upon according to their own minds. The first; being that Congressman Ron Paul has not dropped out of the campaign, it’s just that the Republicans and Democrats do not want his name mentioned anywhere. The second; the last congressional election in Florida’s 13th District saw the loss of 18,000 votes due to un-explained "glitches" in the counting process. In the Michigan primary, scores of voters attempting to vote for Ron Paul found their electronic voting machine would not register a vote for Paul, and they were told never mind, return later and try again. Eventually, it was disclosed that hundreds of devices were programmed not to register a vote for Paul to be counted. Diebold machines are easy to hack in only minutes, the book "Hacking Democracy" demonstrated that it can be done in 10 minutes. In New Hampshire, Paul got no votes in one town, and it turns out, upon complaint, he got 31 votes. Another town found 25 Paul votes. Thirty seven New Hampshire towns had Diebold machines and a re-count is still not to be done. The state wanted $55,000 for the recount and it was paid but still not done. The third; presidential debates are another fixed farce. Three each, Republican and Democrats, sit on the Presidential Debate Commission. Their only job is to see it that no third party candidate gets near any forum. In 2000, Boston police prevented Ralph Nader from entering the stadium simply as a spectator. In 2004, the Libertarian and Constitution party candidates were arrested by St. Louis police and held until the debate was over. Didn’t read about that now did you? The financiers of this comedic circus are all multi-national corporations. Seeking favors and beneficial legislation by influencing national elections. This stuff began primarily with Carter and by Clinton, virtually all regulation of the banking industry had been removed. That ushered in the great era of greed and Alan Greenspan. He worked hard for the power elites, constructing and economic catastrophe starting with the devaluation of our dollar by 87 percent over his 18-year term. The continuous interest rate cutting resulted in the dot com and real estate bubble, then Bush compounded the dollar decline by another 21.7 percent. In 27 years, those pariahs have brought us to the economic collapse we have now. Not only are our elections compromised, but our entire economy too. With the coming elections near, all must be patriots. Guard your vote as precious. Do your homework with regard to the real ideals of your candidate, not just what they spew daily. Watch the polls, poll workers and voting methods. Demand all candidates be heard, not just the Democrats and Republicans. There’s not a penny’s worth of difference between them. Do not be afraid to vote for a third party. Don’t just vote for what you see as a lesser of two evils, but vote for your real honest convictions. We all say we want to have voted for the "winner," but would you follow that "winner" off a cliff if he said march?
It would be a good thing for the write in campaign to get off the ground right about now. That McCain will get the nod seems a foregone conclusion. The problem is that write ins could split the vote and result in a donkey victory in November. McCain is the lesser evil, for sure, but an order of magnitude better than Obama (and two orders better than the hildebeast.) A real quandary.

While the presidential election wasn’t on the official agenda, several members of the commission voiced concerns over the message of liberty being delivered by Dr. Paul and the fact that so many young people were becoming political active. They agreed that Dr. Paul should stop spreading this message and resign his candidacy immediately - Thomas Foley was entrusted to handle the “Paul situation.” One can only speculate on how he accomplished this feat because (as some of you may know) Dr. Paul did indeed drop out earlier this week. The biggest questions I have are for the voters here in America - the common men and women who refused to take any initiative and research the candidates indepth. Many either voted for the mainstream media’s choice or even worse sat on the sidelines and didn’t vote at all. While Carl Cameron and FoxNews were framing and filtering the candidates for us, did anyone bother to check under the hood or kick the tires before blindly following the herd towards Huck, Mitt, Hill or Obama? If he were alive today, Edward Bernays would pin a medal on Rupert Murdoch, who managed to focus your attention away from McCain’s “Bomb Iran” ditty and away from his burka jokes. They convinced you that McCain’s plan for “50 years of war, if necessary” would be peachy and Huck’s relationship to Dick Haas (head of the CFR) was less important than that of his other buddy Chuck (Norris) and Jesus. They conned you into believing that Obama’s brand of Socialism was somehow more palatable than his counterpart, The Rose of Mena (Arkansas). Most haven’t read Brzezinski’s “Grand Chess Board”, nor do they realize how tight he and Obama are (nor what he represents). His book (written in 1997) laid out plans to invade seven nations…we’ve been to two of them already and Iran is next up on his list.

Congressman Paul is a deeply educated student of economics, among other things, and an unabashed advocate of economic freedom and limited constitutional government; Time magazine is staffed by socialist ideologues who display little or no evidence of ever having studied economics at all. The second paragraph of "How the Next President Should Fix the U.S. Economy," by one Justin Fox, explains the real problem as Time sees it: Americans enjoy too much economic freedom. The natural solution, therefore, is to strip them of their freedom with higher taxes, more regulations, and greater regimentation of their lives. The cause of all of today's economic problems, says Time, is of course Ronald Reagan, who supposedly cut taxes, went about "slashing regulation," and preached "the gospel that individual Americans were better suited to make economic decisions than bureaucrats in Washington were."
