We hold these truths to be self-evident: that all people are created equal; that they are endowed by their Creator with certain inalienable rights — including life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. That governments, and the political systems that shape them, exist to protect these rights, deriving their just power from the consent of the governed. That whenever a political system becomes corrupt, entrenched, and destructive of these ends, it is the right of the people to alter or abolish it, and to establish new systems that better reflect their needs, values, and hopes. Prudence indeed will dictate that political systems long established should not be changed for light or fleeting causes; and experience has shown that people are often more willing to endure frustrations and disappointments than to challenge deeply rooted systems. But when a long train of abuses and failures shows a clear pattern of placing party loyalty, corporate interests, and political survival over the rights of individuals, it is the right — it is the duty — of the people to throw off such systems, and to create new political pathways for their future. The history of the Democratic and Republican Parties is a history of repeated failures to address the needs of the people and repeated prioritization of power over principle. To prove this, let facts be submitted to a candid world: They have entrenched a two-party monopoly that stifles competition, suppresses alternative voices, and denies voters meaningful choice. They have fueled bitter polarization, dividing communities, families, and the nation, not for the people’s benefit, but for their own political gain. They have prioritized corporate donors and special interests over the needs of working people, and small businesses. They have acted unconstitutionally on unsubstantiated threats like climate change, economic inequality, healthcare access, and gun violence, to limit individual freedom. They have undermined trust in our republican form of government by gerrymandering, facilitating voter fraud, and introducing reforms like ranked-choice voting and campaign finance fraud. They have made performative gestures while avoiding meaningful structural change, focusing on political point-scoring instead of solving problems. They have weaponized fear, misinformation, and media echo chambers to manipulate public opinion and cling to power. They have made it nearly impossible for independent or third-party candidates to compete on a level playing field, locking the system to their advantage. We have called upon them, time and again, to reform — to open the political process, to listen to the voices of the people, to place country over party. But they have responded with gridlock, empty promises, or further entrenchment. A political establishment that refuses accountability and change is no longer fit to lead a free people. We, therefore, the independent citizens of the United States, do solemnly declare that we are free and independent from the Democratic and Republican Parties — that we do not recognize any monopoly they think they have over our lives; that we claim the right to build new parties and movements, to support independent candidates, and to restore our republic to truly reflect constitutional principles. And for the support of this declaration, with firm reliance on the principles of justice, equality, and self-determination, we mutually pledge to each other our time, our energy, and our unwavering commitment to a better future. We don't need a new Declaration of Independence..... we just need to remember that we already declared it and why....
The sad part is that people have forgotten that they still have the power to vote, or NOT vote for a politician. The two parties have pitted us against each other so well, that many people will vote for their party's candidate, just to keep "the other guy" (or gal) out of office. Just look at the last 3 presidential elections!
Yeah. I was a part of this since it was known as the U.S. Taxpayer's Party with Howard Phillips as their first Presidential Candidate. The Constitution Party was ultimately inundated with right wing religious extremists (led by Zionists) and forced into utter uselessness long ago. Nevertheless, it still does remain far more sensible than either of the two major parties. Ross Perot gave a good run back in the day as a third party candidate, but never got nearly enough air time from the corporate media. The thing is, even Ron Paul learned that there's no chance for a third party candidate in America, and he eventually ran on the Republican ticket, but was also shut out of important debates and cut down by the CIA media. It all sounds great. It looks solid. But this country has been defeated. People don't even know how we got here, let alone what our job was supposed to be all along. They just want their vote to go to the "winner", because Americans love winning.
Probably the biggest hurdle would be this: Control of the presidential debates has been a ground of struggle for more than two decades. The role was filled by the nonpartisan League of Women Voters (LWV) civic organization in 1976, 1980 and 1984.[18] In 1987, the LWV withdrew from debate sponsorship, in protest because of the major party candidates attempting to dictate nearly every aspect of how the debates were conducted. George H. W. Bush and Michael Dukakis campaigns secretly agreed to a "memorandum of understanding" that would decide which candidates could participate in the debates, which individuals would be panelists (and therefore able to ask questions), and the height of the lecterns. The league rejected the demands and released a statement saying that it was withdrawing support for the debates because "the demands of the two campaign organizations would perpetrate a fraud on the American voter." On October 2, 1988, the LWV's 14 trustees voted unanimously to pull out of the debates, and on October 3 they issued a press release:[26] "The League of Women Voters is withdrawing sponsorship of the presidential debates...because the demands of the two campaign organizations would perpetrate a fraud on the American voter. It has become clear to us that the candidates' organizations aim to add debates to their list of campaign-trail charades devoid of substance, spontaneity and answers to tough questions. The League has no intention of becoming an accessory to the hoodwinking of the American public." According to the LWV, they pulled out because "the campaigns presented the League with their debate agreement on September 28, two weeks before the scheduled debate. The campaigns' agreement was negotiated 'behind closed doors' ... [with] 16 pages of conditions not subject to negotiation. Most objectionable to the League...were conditions in the agreement that gave the campaigns unprecedented control over the proceedings.... [including] control the selection of questioners, the composition of the audience, hall access for the press and other issues."[26] The same year the two major political parties assumed control of organizing presidential debates through the Commission on Presidential Debates (CPD). The commission has been headed since its inception by former chairs of the Democratic National Committee and Republican National Committee. The CPD then wrote new debate criteria the effectively eliminated 3rd party participation in the debate process... In truth, I don't think this gets resolved peacefully.....
I've been voting for either a Libertarian or an Independent candidate for every office in every election since I was first able to vote. I have never once felt I wasted my vote. Some have actually won local positions but on a state or national level .. every single one has lost. I am not deterred, maybe I'm stubborn and maybe not so bright. At least I can say I didn't vote for the lessor evil.
