My view is that when people have liberty, they make their own safety.

 

I went to visit my old shop on Camp Lejeune. It's a field. I used to build transmissions looking out the window at that first tree.

The steam plant and rail lines that used to be across the street are gone. The messhall that we waited eighteen months to be renovated is gone. I just drive around and see what's still where I remember it.

Makes me feel old.

 

I get the same feeling using Google Earth to "tour" my old airbase and navy base. Being old, disabled and homebound precludes my driving there to tour them in person, though I would if I could. A lot of changes in fortyplus years.

 

Just in time for the new " Lake America " ,,,,,

 

Yup, I did the Google earth thing for Fairchild AFB - 'cause of the local fires.

The runway was the only thing I recognized.... Ditto for Nellis AFB.

Been out (retired) now for over 30 years, so not to much of a surprise. Still...
