Yeah, those claws are sharp! The teeth too!

 

Yeah, no normal kid could see out of both of those eyeholes.

 

There was strength in numbers for us. We visited only the next door neighbors, a quarter mile away, before dark on Halloween. Then we'd all get rides, or ride bikes to Bob's Hilltop Market and gather in swarms to hit the lakes community where the homes were really close together. By the time we were three streets back from the lake our bags of candy were usually weighing us down and the lack of oxygen from the masks and noisy, hot, costumes had worn us down.

The main road was only three lanes then, but we'd heard stories about kids getting hit by cars. We'd all bunch up and wait for one of the bigger kids to yell "RUN!" If we were going to get hit by a car on Halloween we were all going together.
