Last spring, squirrels climbed up into the engine compartment and ate up the wiring on my wife's mini van. It cost a pretty penny to replace the wiring.

Just a minute ago I cought two squirrels trying to climb up into my work car from the bottom. I gave them a chance by pitching rocks under the car, but they came back.

The dynamic duo just got the business end of my great-great-grandpa's .410 double-barrel shotgun. No more problems from these two.

    Has anyone had similar problems?

Yep, but with rats when i lived in Florida, had to sprinkle Decon all over my engine compartment for two weeks.

Weidmannsheil, we have the same problem with Polecats, they chew the rubber coated cables and any part that has plastic or rubber coating, I wouldn't really care if they ate the stuff to survive, but it is wanton vandalism, from mother natures creatures.

Did you cook them and eat them?, as that is the ultimate revenge......

Previous owner of my daughters car had squirrels "squirrel away" acorns and leaves in the in the heating ducts of the pontiac, which eventually created a fire...lol for mr.goodwrench!,

Dunno what the Brits call it, but in PA it is another term for skunk, otherwise known as roadkill woods pussy. (Stinkicus muchicus north americus.)

    Here's another take.

Bit bigger than a ferret, and they are used to hunt rabbit, either caught in nets or shot with shotguns as they bolt.

I was out for a bicycle ride with my sons today and they were as surprised as I was to see one on the street as they are normally very shy and nocturnal, probably out and about due to the heat 30+°C.

    Latin name is Martes martes
