Just read on the news that Russia and China were testing EMP pulse weapons. Some burglurs are zapping home burglar alarms to break in. Cops shut down cars . This pulse would under ANY condition make your electronic gun safe inoperable. So, you need a EMP pulse protector for your alarm, gun safe, and other electronics as precaution. the old dail knob or fabrication is for me.
The concept of electronic locks is really lost on me. What happens if you let the batteries run down? Now, I know at least some have real keys as backup, but that makes the electronics redundant, so why bother with the extra cost for a few transistors? Nonsensical, says me.
The electronic safes are setup with and EEPROM (Electronically Erasable Programmable Read Only Memory). If the battery runs down or is removed, the code remains in the EEPROM. My "safe" does not have a back up key system, so if an EMP hit near me I'd be screwed! I guess I'd have to break out the drill and sawzall to get in
My safe as dual keys for entry and electronic lock with aux plug to add a power pack externally... emp or not I am getting in...
