yawn.....another global warming story.......less ice at the north pole, more ice at the south pole....no change in water height, but there has been a change in water temperatures lately and that is down, down, down

'sfunny. The scientists say this is second to the record for polar melting in the last 30 years, and first wasn't last year. And the real pros are saying this will be a colder and snowier winter than average coming up. Wonder what kind of trend this really is.

What is really alarming is that our sun has gone over a month without any sunspot activity, this has not happened in over a century. There are a lot of concerned scientist that say if our sunspot cycles don't start up pretty soon, then we could face the posibilites of seeing a mni-ice age.

I think Al would say with confidence that man's acitvity is causing the sun not to have any spots and move to put sunspots on the endangered species list as "threatened".

Its been far more than just one month without sunspot activity. I know there has not been major sunspot activity since last may... atleast. These are from my own observations. This means that there has not been a major amount of thermal movement with-in the atmosphere. Without the movement, the cold air has been seeping down (up in the south of the equator example) and this means that we are gonna have a terrible winter ahead for us. You folks in the plains get ready for a white winter wonderland. Also for us further north. Its gonna be a fun one.

Awesome man, Bring it on, if last winter is the precursor to the one ahead I'm gonna love it, more snow, more cold..... 27' of snow last winter on the hill, cant wait to see the next one.[beer]

We hardly got any snow last year, here in PA. We got plenty of ice, though. Ice sucks, I'd rather have snow anyday. Maybe I'll be able to get the x-country skis dusted off this winter...

http://spaceweather.com/A sunspot has been spotted yesterday, but very small and will not last long. Still does not bode for a mild winter. This is becoming a major concern regarding sunspot activity.

Note to self..... take the BIG sleepingbag when camping this winter!

So do I understand that sun spots keep the earth warm? Or cause globAl warming? Hm.

If it results in big outward blasts, I would expect warming. This summer hasn't been as hot as some I can recall. All a part of the solar cycles. If I recall, they are on a more-or-less eleven year cycle?
They certainly do affect RF communications.

I expect BO will blame it all on the current administration, as usual.
