Lets assume for a moment that due to a catastrophic event, say a major political assassination or other domestic terrorist incident of greater magnitude, that martial law is enacted for the good of all. Some pockets of disgruntled citizens then escalate a bad situation to a major incident and there is considerable loss of life as an unintended consequence. The NRA joins in with the federal government to reduce firearms ownership to citizens that have passed a background check and severe penalties for violation of these necessary laws include arrest and confiscation of weapons and any other materials that might contribute to subversive actions. The news media has labeled these pockets of subversives as domestic terrorists, child abusers, drug dealers, tax violators, you get the picture; it's Waco all over again. All civilian firearms owners must now belong to a sanctioned shooting club and all ammunition and weapons must be securely stored in the club safe-room. We have been sold this bill of goods for the necessary benefit of all and what are a few restrictions if it will keep the military out of our neighborhood. An executive order mandates that all privately held weapons must be approved by the government and anyone that does not comply is a danger to the freedoms of all the rest. Neighbors join watch programs, Mad mothers teach their children to spot violations. rewards are offered to those that help identify the dangerous domestic terrorists.
How long will you wait to comply?

Can you imagine a one man Waco? I have nothing to lose by it, and I could possibly do a bit of equalization. I have no reason to comply with an illegal order or law. If an amendment goes thru to counterfeit the second, I'll rethink a bit, but the cache will not be revealed.

Take Domestic terrorist out of that sentence and replace it with what ever else and that would be me.

Sorry, but the government, your neighbors, and the press have defined domestic terrorist as anyone that would offer resistance or non-compliance to laws that were enacted for the better of society. You are either a citizen or a criminal and we'll hunt you down like a dog!

this is where the "metal meets the meat" isn't it??.. ( col hal moore "we were soldiers")

Isn't there a state we could all fall back to to be left in constitutional bliss??? There may actually be ajustifiable need for "martial law" from manpower and equipment angle to prevent 7,000 or 70,000 angry citizens from burning down half a major city,Just as I don't want to fight an apartment building fire with a garden hose.

It's the oppressive/unconstitutional jackboot skullduggery that makes it a dangerous idea.....
America is not America without freedom to: travel, engage in commerce, speak openly of things or hold opinions some don't approve of...keep and bear arms.be secure in persons papers and effects. That kind of "martial law"authority should expect difficulties firearms or not...

New to you folks, and glad to have found you. I recommend a little book called: The Cunning of History., by Richard L. Rubenstein. You can get no better analysis of the methodology employed to forward totalitarianism and a holocaust than this excellent work. Seacowboys is right on with this hypothetical situation. Control of the media is tantamount to control of a nation; repeat a lie enough and will become the truth. Some nazi said that, minister of free speach or something like that. Anyways, I'm afraid it is already too late and that's why alot of folks are already taking measures.
What's that old saying; The road to Hell is Paved with Good Intentions. Yea, if we could just get rid of these ____ then the world would be so much better off. Like we live in different time or something, where people have changed and we need not worry about being cows headed in to a slaughter house. Good lord, it's hard to believe that people are so thoughtless, but I meet them all the time. As for me? Well,
I did swear an Oath to protect and defend the Constitution. Sure I was young and dumb, but what the heck. Might as well give as good as I would get if I were supid enough to believe a bunch of talking heads on the boob tube.

Quigs, make no mistake, you are a terrorist at least in the minds of those with less clarity of thought. As am I and others here!! At least I hope, sincerely hope, that our opinions strike terror into the hearts and minds of those who would deprive us of our rights. What bothers me is that there are not enough of us that can legitimately say we'll stand up and be counted. To my mind, taken this way, being a terrorist is not a bad thing. So it would seem there are good terrorists and the other kind.

Does anyone remember the Simpsons episode where they have this magical monkey paw that grants 5 wishes and Lisa wishes for there to be world peace? Bam! No more guns... Great right? Well there will always be someone that wants what you/we have. (In this case it was aliens.) In the end Moe runs the aliens off with a board that has a nail in it. As they leave on of the aliens says that one day humans will make bigger boards with bigger nails and eventually destroy themselves with their own power.

My point? I don't remember, but I think it had something to do with the idea of taking away our guns as being wrong. Take away our "legal" guns (the good guys) and only "illegal" guns (the bad guys) will remain...

One mans terrorist is another mans patriot.
I am anything but a terrorist

Timothy McVeigh said he was a patriot too. Denial is also a river and rivers only flow one direction. None of us would ever see ourselves as a terrorist buy sorry dude, we can't help what others call us.
I don't know if I would comply or not; I am basically a law-abiding person. I do know that I would not participate in turning in my neighbors unless they were stupidly dangerous and shooting out windows and such. Just hiding out a few "just in case" makes you a terrorist by this criteria. The issue isn't if you are a terrorist or not but how far would you go to protect your rights. Do you abide by the GCA? how about the 68 GCA? what if the next act with similar penalties, makes you register your weapons and keep them at the gun-club? They did that in England for years, I believe. Then total confiscation? Where is the line drawn? A few more restrictions? This hypothetical situation offers the alternative of being a "good" citizen or being what "They" define as a domestic terrorist. There are not any other choices, even for the guy that would hide a weapon "just in case".

My point was the semantics and the point of view, nothing else. You and I, and a slew of others here will stand together no matter who calls us what. (Nor does it matter what we call ourselves as long as the cause is common.)

A list of names and addresses can be quickly printed up from those BATFE forms. Are you on the list? If so, better decide now what you're going to do. Ammo will also be banned. Consider that martial law would have to be imposed to make this work so there will be checkpoints and general searches.
Me, I am a good little [sheep]who knows exactly what is on that list and will immediately turn in any nasty firearms I own. Of course.

This is a great example of how investigative interviews work:
I would expect that line of questioning in any"interview by tptb( called the"reid technique")regarding this topic.
"You wouldn't do anything to really hurt anyone you're not a terrorist, you just hid one or two of your hunting weapons right"?( givesyou a way to build rapport,"save face" or confess more easily).

"Uh.. as long as you put it that way yes!" bada-bing they got you..
You knowingly hid a proscribed item(here firearm)..you initially denied its exitence (lying to a federal agent/policeofficer).Nobody cares how you spin, twist or qualify the words in your statement. You can apply these principles to any "interview"
    watch for it....
