Something just dawned on me. I get most of my real news from the net. Wtshtf were does one get get news/info about what is really happening? I have a Grundig shortwave radio, is that enough? Or will all news be so restricted that it won't matter where you get it? Seems even shortwave maybe unreliable at that point.

Question... Are you talking about US news or WORLD news? Because personally if the SHTF, the last thing I would be thinking about is what is happening in Uganda or some place like that.

For generations people lived without knowing much news wise that was credible farther than a day or two journey from their home. I think most of us will be able to handle that since we'll have more to do than sit in front of the boob tube or the computer for hours on end.

good question: as a certified(able?) news junkie I've been looking into a good tabletop shortwave reciever and putting an atenna up in the attic should allow me to get news from the sw broadcasts outside thecountry.that anda back up power source ( deepcycle12v/inverter/solarpanel or other charge options.)tabletop because my pocket grundig (though nice for thebob ) lacks an external antenna connection.

it really depends upon if there is an EMP attack or not. If is a civil type restriction, it will not be as sudden as an emp and you will hear or read (here) of impending restrictions; just my Old Fart experience speaking. Overbore

BBC news casts would be worth listening too I think. Emp would definitely come into play,IIRC a tube type radio would be rugged enough to survive an emp pulse. RESITANCE?
Zero ohms! got no resistors here plenty of capacitors and inductors though.[lolol][lolol]

I used to "monitor" by tv set all the news channels, but the cats got ticked off as it used way too much of their space on the shelving, and so 1 day they decide to let me have it.....
    Literally!
They knocked off 4 sets on the top shelf, and it caused me a heck of a headache and 12 stitches!
Now, I use a lot of different sources, radio, tv, internet and shortwave radios.
I also ONLY have 2 cats now!
Cuts down on interference and damanges to me!
