Jimmy Buffett to sing for Obama in Florida http://www.foxnews.com/wires/2008Oct29/0,4670,ObamaJimmyBuffett,00.html TAMPA, Fla. — The mayor of Margaritaville is jumping into this year's political fray. Jimmy Buffett plans a free concert Sunday in Tampa to urge people to vote for Democrat Barack Obama for president. The "Last Chance for Change" rally and concert is happening two days before the election at the outdoor Ford Amphitheatre. People can get two free tickets by visiting any of the early voting information tables the Obama campaign has set up in the Tampa Bay area. Show time is 3 p.m. More information is available at http://www.FL.BarackObama.com.
The Parrotheads are completely capable of thinking for themselves....Thank You. Just because Jimmy does something doesn't mean we're all going to run out and do it.....Hence the infighting on a Buffett board I belong to that has become a thread over 50 pages long... I can't wait for this election to be over. I have stayed out of the fray and intend to....Just can't have a whole group of folks judged by what one singer does... Trust me on this one.
I guess it all blew up in Hawaii there was nothin' left to say After months of going crazy, they're all voting the socialist way... (chorus)When the dust had finally settled and the air completely cleared Oh things were better off than I had feared.. And I, miss you so badly! USA I loved you madly feelin' so sad now since you've been gone , gone gone!.. I'VE been( crusin' hotel maids;chewin' on rolaids)/ (watchin' the "Gong show"; waitin for "Zorro",) Keepin track of the long days since you been gone; I got a head full of feelin' higher and an ear full of Patsy cline, there is just no one who could touch her;hell I hang on every line. classic buffett lyrics( too good to leaveout):" We're stayin' in a holiday inn full of surgeons, I guess they meet there once a year, they exchange physician stories and get drunk off cheap ass beer Then they're off to catch a stripper with their eyes glued to her "G"... But I don'think I'll ever let'em cut on me; And I miss you so badly..."
Interesting choice of word there...Socialist. I just saw Brian Moore interviewed 2 days ago... He said a few things I found interesting. 1) He said he would not vote for Barack Obama. 2) He said that Obama's platform is NOT socialist. 3) He said that McCain's platform actually holds true more to the Socialist ideals than Obama's does. Why do I find this interesting? Because Brian Moore is running for President on the Socialist Party Ticket... ...carry on...
re .... REDISTRIBUTION ofwealth, protecting the chil'ren from gun violence...Not that I really like mccain either... Guess i really can't support that statement with valid quotes...
Waste your vote anyway you want on the Oval Office. Business gets done in Congress; don't waste your vote in the local and state elections, but VOTE.
I was talking to a friend of mine today, he lives in Tampa. We used to love J/B until now. He's going to e-mail his web site and complain. The separation has started.
BOTH sides are flushing us down the commode - one side is simply pulling the handle quicker..... Sorry for the ruffled feathers, CRC. I'll treat you to a Marguerita if ever we meet.
You know...I really don't care who Jimmy supports.... Or John Rich, of "Big & Rich" who did a huge Free Concert here, 2 months ago, for John McCain.... (Did anyone post that? I didn't look...) One of my very close friends (of 20 plus years) also supports Obama. Should I dismiss almost 20 years of friendship because our political views differ? Will Jimmy's songs sound any different to me now? Not a chance. And my entertainment choices will continue to be based on just that...entertainment. No biggie.... Maybe it will be easier to get tickets now...
Well, I will still listen to the local Jimmy Buffet hour on the radio Sunday mornings. I can enjoy his music, even if I don't care for his political leanings.
