Father/Daughter Talk - A True Revelation A young woman was about to finish her first year of college. Like so many others her age, she considered herself to be a very liberal Democrat, and was very much in favor of "the redistribution of wealth." She was deeply ashamed that her father was a rather staunch Republican, a feeling she openly expressed. Based on the lectures that she had participated in, and the occasional chat with a professor, she felt that her father had for years harbored an evil, selfish desire to keep what he thought should be his. One day she was challenging her father on his opposition to higher taxes on the rich and the addition of more government welfare programs. The self-professed objectivity proclaimed by her professors had to be the truth and she indicated so to her father. He responded by asking how she was doing in school. Taken aback, she answered rather haughtily that she had a 4.0 GPA, and let him know that it was tough to maintain, insisting that she was taking a very difficult course load and was constantly studying, which left her no time to go out and party like other people she knew. She didn't even have time for a boyfriend, and didn't really have many college friends because she spent all her time studying. Her father listened and then asked, "How is your friend Audrey doing?" She replied, "Audrey is barely getting by. All she takes are easy classes, she never studies, and she barely has a 2.0 GPA. She is so popu lar on campus; college for her is a blast. She's always invited to all the parties, and lots of times she doesn't even show up for classes because she's too hung over." Her wise father asked his daughter, "Why don't you go to the Dean's office and ask him to deduct a 1.0 off your GPA and give it to your friend who only has a 2.0. That way you will both have a 3.0 GPA and certainly that would be a fair and equal distribution of GPA." The daughter, visibly shocked by her father's suggestion, angrily fired back, "That wouldn't be fair! I have worked really hard for my grades! I've invested a lot of time, and a lot of hard work! Audrey has done next to nothing toward her degree. She played while I worked my tail off!" The father slowly smiled, winked and said gently, "Welcome to the Republican Party."
Then she got out of school, got a job, the republicans began confiscating thousands from her in tax dollars for corporate welfare for big oil and big pharma among others. Eighteen years later, she attended the funeral of her only son, who died in action protecting the interests of the big corporations under the guise of protecting our freedoms. Ten years after that, she spoke with her mother on her death bed who couldn't afford the medical attention she needed to stay alive thanks to getting screwed by her insurance company, and the insane profit margins, even though she had been funding the medical research for the last 28 years with her hard earned tax money. Her dying mother said, welcome to the republican party dear.

How many major corporations are for gun control, socialized medicine, and welfare for booth the lazy poor and rich. The laundry list that they push for is endless, and all they do is to whittle away at our freedoms that the founding fathers fought for us. See, Conagher, just because I speak out against the right, doesn't mean I like the left, for some reason, we collectively get in this mode where....... you have to pick a side, then support your side beyond all reason, and be against everything the other side says/does. Our guns are no safer from McCain, nor our civil liberties, or do I have to remind everyone of all the rights we've lost under the last 8 years of Bush. Far worse than the Clinton years, and I really hated that lying p.o.s. The vast majority of Americans all want the same things, we're nearly all on the same team, yet every 4 years, the puppetmasters manage to divide us up one against the other until we begin seeing the enemy amongst our own. Once you take sides, right/left, you've been duped, and the only ones that win are the same a**holes that have been manipulating us all along. Until the right stops seeing the left as the enemy and vice versa, we will never be free from their control.

I lost all interest in this election when Ron Paul did not get the nomination. I could care less which of the two a-hole gets in; neither will get my vote. Evil is evil and I am done choosing between them. I believe a revolution is coming and it frightens me.
I have been considering the same thing. Will the revolution be of the and October Revolution or will it be a Lexington & Concord Revolution? or a combination of the both that leads to a breaking up of the Union?
Somehow, I doubt the union will be broken up. However, in the short term, centralized government (as opposed to centralized control) will be weakened to the extent that the union will be stressed by external forces. It may be that those external influences will be the factor that brings the US back to the point where we can again put a Great White Fleet to sea. My state doesn't allow write-ins so I had no choice. But that does not mean that I think that voting in another Republican administration will significantly change anything. I liken it to choosing between two trains that are both heading for the same destination just taking different routes. A growing big brother state is on it's way and it doesn't matter a whole heck of a lot if we take the express or the scenic route to get there. The dems and obamination think the Constitution is a "living document" and a flexible model that can be adapted to whatever they think it should be. And the Repubs consider it just a "g'damned piece of paper" that can be ignored whenever "security" demands it. Judge orders White House to produce wiretap memos WASHINGTON - A judge has ordered the Justice Department to produce White House memos that provide the legal basis for the Bush administration's post-Sept. 11 warrantless wiretapping program. U.S. District Judge Henry Kennedy Jr. signed an order Friday requiring the department to produce the memos by the White House legal counsel's office by Nov. 17. He said he will review the memos in private to determine if any information can be released publicly without violating attorney-client privilege or jeopardizing national security. Kennedy issued his order in response to lawsuits by civil liberties groups in 2005 after news reports disclosed the wiretapping. The department had argued that the memos were protected attorney-client communications and contain classified information. Doesn't really look overwhelmingly negative, topping the list is a negative rant that got drug up from a year and a half ago about M. Ayoob. But it seems the majority of posts are in humor/jokes, games, stuff about mre's, eggs, ammo choices, hummingbird feeders, various "welcome to the monkey" stuff, blah, blah. Perhaps you just notice the anti republican stuff more than the rest?

In all honesty, I think you're probably right. I do get too hung up on all the crap that's happening around me. It's hard to "stop and smell the roses" when your wading in sewage. I hope that one day I do get to take you up on that brew......
A NW get together sounds like a lot of fun.....food, drinks, shooting guns, etc. On a side note, Blackjack I wasn't trying to come off as the Republicans don't do any wrong. But if Obama gets into office, and with the Dems already controlling the House and the Senate, and if they retain their seats in the House and the Senate, then they will have a Democratic 60% majority vote on issues going through the House and Senate is available, nothing and I mean nothing will stop the Dems from passing any measure, law, or amendment they see fit. I guarantee you with Obama, Biden, Hildabeast, Schumer, Feinstein, Pelosi, and the other Dems that want an all-out assault weapons ban, it will be passed in a heartbeat and there won't be no stopping it since there will be no Republican opposition to stand in their way. I would have rather seen Ron Paul up there getting the votes to help turn this country around, but that didn't happen as we all can see. Oh well, if this turns out for the worse tomorrow, then maybe the next revolution is closer than we think.....
