A Simple (and cheap) Brick Rocket Stove

  1. First post here so I hope it turns out! Cool site by the way. I saw a survival type / emergency stove online a while back and I wanted to take a stab at making my own. So for about 16 bricks and some scavenged wood...I made one to test it out.
Seems like an effective way to get a stove together after a disaster.
Here's a video I made of the process.

Be very careful with the brick stoves. If there is any moisture in or on the bricks, there is apt to be some small steam explosions as well as possible spalling of the bricks themselves. Looks like it would work in a pinch.

Way nice, and Welcome to the Monkey Tree....

  4. Exactly right. If in a disaster type situation, i'd look for chimney bricks if available.

Or just dry them out, in a fire, before building the Stove...

    Nice.
I have a small pile of brick on the backyard , once the snow melts I'll have to dry them out and try building one of my own.

Yep, just dry them slowly and thoroly. Needless to say, once dried out, keep 'em dry.
