It ain't in the budget anytime in the foreseeable future. I am working hard and building a house without a mortgage, and just getting by, and staying prepared. But I do dream.... and you have added a nice one. Thanks. The sad part is I have a great gulf of mexico fishing boat with a 60hp motor on it. The motor has less than 20 hours on it. I am too ashamed to tell you when I bought the motor new to repower the boat. And... then there is the 25 foot sailboat that has not seen the water in almost 2 decades.

Have you done this part of the river? Are the water levels good through summer or is this a spring thing? Speed? Duration?

Let us know... It seems that whenever we plan a little vacation, CC gets called to work and ~sigh~ another fun bites the dust ;).

What about wife and 6-yr-old ?... My wife sounded very interested and she puts up with my survival talk (and my daughter helps me clean the guns :^).

Let me get this right; you want to take a six year old kid on class three water? Fifty plus miles of wild river is not a water park.

The class 3 rapids I've been on could be walked around - not sure if that's possible on this river (only one class 3 was listed). A lot of people take their kids camping in wilderness areas; that doesn't seem to be something to be incredulous over.

I was actually going to change/delete my original post a while back, but never got around to it -- the trip is much better suited to a bunch of Monkeys (in this site's context) than family. I just automatically include family in everything I do, so apologies for not taking care of that earlier. Most people wouldn't want youngsters (or maybe even wives) around on a trip like that.

It shouldnt be no trouble as long as the child has an up right life jacket and wears it.
Lets do this, Beav I tend to take all of my family too, and if not i have a 17 year old daughter that can baby sit.

I drag my wife and 3 yr old around to everything I do. I have pictures of my baby at <1 yr old at knob Creek.

I'm in Quig if I'm still in the NW.

My daughter's first trip was just after she turned 7. As we rounded the bend and she saw the first set of rapids, she looked over and asked if we could turn the boat around. After the first, she was eager for all the rest. She had a blast! Every pool we came to, she was out of the boat and into the pool.

Same here, the wife is an excellent cook and the kids, if trained right, make good little slaves.

Not including the wife and kids would be a shame, they would be missing out on a fun time and some beautiful country.

Ok - looks like plenty of family-types are interested, so we'd really like to join in too!

I hope we can set up a schedule well in advance because of a couple weekends are taken already. (6/19 for one)

Is there still interest in a SM trip this June-July?
I have a great contact for raft rental's and shuttle for vehicles.
You just need to plan cloths, tent, pad and bag + food and drink all of the rest comes with the rental.
Kick around some date and see of we can do this?
I will post pics and video when I get back.
