I definitely live in a good town for barter and networking. Latest deal was a wood turning for metalwork deal. I made the two completed rushlight holders and got my choice seven of the nine original turned bases. Now I see if I can trade some of my scrap metal for some iron and see if the blacksmith at the museum will make a few more nips in trade for a couple bases. If I end up with 3-5 I'll be happy, and have almost nothing invested but time. We drew design clues from these original drawings. The woods include Red Cedar, Flowering Pear, Spalting Oak and Black Cherry. I wish I could've saved some of the purple and blue stained bug wood from my pines, but I'd just as soon never see a pine beetle again. I lost the 70' Long Leaf Pines to those pests. Any time I can trade my labor for someone else's I see it as a win/win.
