Inside China: Nuclear submarines capable of widespread attack on U.S. - Washington Times Interesting article. Although they clearly have a plan for it, I doubt China is interested in nuking America. Afterall, they expect our debt to be paid back in land and natural resources.
Sounds like someone putting a gun to our head. We may get pistol whipped just to show they mean it. If we default could they seize the national forests and other government controlled lands?
I don't think they will have to seize it. I think the dotgov will hand it to them. For the Fed debt, I think the dotgov will raise taxes to the point of confiscation and the Fed will sell real assets through the banks to foreigners.
according to broker, you and I are assets of the corporaction that is the United States. that means if they could seize assets, they could Ceize you and me.
It's kind of naive to believe that any nuclear armed country doesn't have a plan to deal with every other nuclear (and non-nuclear) armed country out there. I'm sure we have plans somewhere showing the strategy for bombing the UK and Canada into oblivion, and vice versa. Although, the thing that really gets me wondering, is that the targets pointed out on the map do not match what the author of the article states. Maybe I think too much into it.
Our Nuke Hunter/Killer Subs have just ONE Priority.... That is to trail and shadow our foes Ballistic Subs, and on command, Kill Them.... We have 40 years of experience doing just that.... and our new Foe in SubSurface Warfare is the Chinese Fleet. These are newbie Guys in the Sub Game, and along with our Australian Allies boats, are more than up to the task. If Mr. Chinaman even thinks of messing with us, he will lose, minimum, 90% of his boats in the first go-round, and what is left will be running for their lives..... Just ask our Bubblehead Monkeys.....
Remember that unexplained and quickly buried story of a sea borne missile launch off the coast of CA awhile back? That might have been our Chinese friends showing us what they could do - in light of today’s story... also remember when one of their subs surfaced in the middle of one of our battle groups undetected – that didn’t hurt…. The uninvited guest: Chinese sub pops up in middle of U.S. Navy exercise, leaving military chiefs red-faced | Mail Online I was just thinking what if the USN actually detected the Chinese sub, and just didnt react --> make the Chinese think that they can creap up to a Carrier battle group
If they were that smart, they would have set down quietly in front of the battle group, and played dead, then just surface. They didn't creep up on anchored ships in harbor, but met them at sea. It could all just be SUB-trafuge.
As near as I can find out, Chinese ICBMs that are MIRVed cannot currently be launched from shipboard platforms. They are land based only, but indeed can reach the US mainland. The DF31 carries just three MIRVed warheads that are publicly known. I know nothing about their sea launched missiles except that they are JL -2 SRBMs, haven't been able to unearth anything more useful. They have (at least) two missile boats with 12 warshot each capability. Worth noting is that their subs can operate in shallower water than ours can, they are smaller. Design is quiet, but I've nothing to compare it to in our fleet. I do know that ours are way quieter now than when I was in, and we were quiet then, far more so than the other side was. I also know that if we can hear them, they are dead, there isn't any shallow water that we can't reach, even if we can't go into it. All this, BTW, is readily found on the web. Our hunter-killers are huge compared to the way it was, and carry a greater variety and load out of weapons. Jane's Fighting Ships is the go to source, even if some stuff is classified and not in that book.
And that doesn't take into consideration that if one single missile launched at us from a Chinese Sub, on a course to one of our cities, would likely be returned 100 fold, and turn the Peoples Republic into a Glass Parking Lot.... .....
Not that I disagree, but do you really think the current resident of 1600 pen ave. would respond like that? I know we could, but would we? Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk
Not a chance. But their military hardware would be reduced to scrap metal within a month (along with untold and immeasurable collateral damage.) Even zero would not pull back from that; and if he did, Congress would over-ride him even as weak willed as they are. The only pause I can see would be concerns over how far radioactive materials would be spread in the process of destroying the warheads if they were targeted rather than the launch infrastructure.
