On reading the horrible article in the newspaper about the Maldives I got really sad and amazed. According to the article within three and half years Maldives will get drowned either completely or about 95%. If it is really going to happen, then how will all those people living their make their escape? What kind of campaign has their government started to save their citizen? Shouldn't international community show their interest to such countries. Or the - link removed - posted in the newspaper is just a scam?

Strange.... this post is virtually verbatim to one which I recently read on a ListServ... including the misspelling. Coincidence>>>? Nevertheless.... no need for anyone to panic. The good people of Maldives would have oodles of time to move inland….both scenarios aren't "predicted" until the end of the 21st century anyway so it's not like they'd be dealing with a 48 hour warning like they've had with hurricanes in the past but... please take a very close look at this from that gloom and doom article, "Though, the Fourth Assessment Report of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) has predicted the seal level to rise between 18 cm to 59 cm by the end of the 21st century, many other studies have stated it to be too conservative in its estimation for future sea level rise. It is because, the IPCC report has not included all the contributing factors to measure the future trend of sea level rise. For example, it has not included the ice calving (ice-sheet dynamics) factor. When Pfeffer et al (2008) incorporated this factor, as well; he found the sea level rise to reach between 0.8 to 2 meter, by the end of 21st century; with the high probability of 0.8 meter rise."
The article refers to the rapid sea-level rise scenario. We can credit that gem to Stefan Rahmstorf at Potsdam University who's one of a handful of contributing authors to the IPCC's Fourth Assessment Report. They don't just let anyone play in the IPCC sand box you know. Anyhow, the slow sea-level rise projection 1st referenced in the article is from the IPCC's Fourth Assessment Report too but... it's from the A1B scenario.
Both used HADCRUT which is the merged dataset provided by the Hadley Centre and the Climate Research Unit. They're using the IPCC’s predictions of future climate not their own, Climate Feedback: Predictions of climate, and.... HADCRUT assumes AGW is real…. they based their “studies” on old computer modeling with “estimates” instead of hard data.... which seems to be the "in" thing to do these days since NASA "adopted" HADCRUT too, In fact there are no predictions by IPCC at all. And there never have been. The IPCC instead proffers “what if” projections of future climate that correspond to certain emissions scenarios. There are a number of assumptions that go into these emissions scenarios. They are intended to cover a range of possible self consistent “story lines” that then provide decision makers with information about which paths might be more desirable. But they do not consider many things like the recovery of the ozone layer, for instance, or observed trends in forcing agents.
These are climate models that can be throttled to target any audience ie:… age, type and level of expertise…. use of the material we're presenting and….our audience’s general attitude toward us and the content of our presentation>>>? That’s not “science”….. that’s well marketed pseudoscience targeting youth unfamiliar with the scientific method because well.... they’re more “impressionable” and they're the future leaders of the world. Whatever. There’s a big difference between science and pseudoscience and that’s why we'll all hopefully be seeing more and more from many scientific disciplines jumping on to defend the very tenet of science…. the scientific method, SPECIAL REPORT: More Than 1000 International Scientists Dissent Over Man-Made Global Warming Claims - Challenge UN IPCC & Gore | Climate Depot and a new one openly contesting their science, American Physicist Joins Attack on Global Warming Theory. Pink Floyd> I don't let their perception become my reality any more and.... I'm not exactly going to be dropping my long johns in any Good Will box any time soon.

It's identical because it's a SPAM post to drop a link to that site.

When you see new members make one post with a link in it, you can hit 'report this post' Which is the little red triangle under there name. It's bad etiquette to join a forum for the sole purpose of dropping one post and one link to another site.

I'll leave it up here so you can see this reply but I have removed the link to the other site from the original post.

    Thanks

Perhaps a nice kiddy scopolamine cocktail with a cutsie little parasol would help pink floyd find something more productive to do with his time.
