I wasn't really in the market for an AR-15 but found one local and am considering buying it, but I don't really know if it's a good deal or not. I figured the AR-15 crowd here could help me out. Here are the specs: DPMS 16" lightweight AR-15 (looks to be like new) Wilson arms (chrome lined) barrel with 1:9 twist A2 flash hider RRA 6 position tactical stock Versa-pod bipod 2 30 round magazines $700 Anyways, I'd appreciate all opinions. Is there anything I should know about this setup? I really don't know much on the AR-15 so please help me out. Thanks.
Sounds like a fair price. If you can buy it FTF I would jump on it. Cheapest I have seen of late were $650 for a plain Jane set up. So this one with the mags, tactical stock and bi-pod I would say make it well worth the price. There are others on here that might be able to give you more details on the DPMS. I have never owned one but don't recall hearing anything negative about them.
DPMS is the best bang for the buck, I have a LR308 AP4. Wish I could have taken it to the "Sandbox" with me. One other concern, is this a brand new weapon or is it second hand? If brand new, then make sure their is no letter "F" in the serial no. If there is, what that means is that it is a kit gun and does not fall under DPMS's warranty. So if something goes wrong with it, then you will have to cover the parts and repairs. As I said up top, DPMS is the best bang for your dollar.
Good price, watch for the "F" letter, like RC said, use a bore light and cycle some empties or dummy rounds.
When DPMS sells just a lower reciever, they will include a letter F in the serial number because of their 3yr warranties on thier complete rifles. Also, if they sell a stripped lower, then a letter K will be in the serial number.
