Good link Bigdaddy40, thanks. [explaining to others] It's a petition to KEEP Ron Paul in the debates. My sig was number 6902
Brief Overview of Congressman Paul’s Record He has never voted to raise taxes. He has never voted for an unbalanced budget. He has never voted for a federal restriction on gun ownership. He has never voted to raise congressional pay. He has never taken a government-paid junket. He has never voted to increase the power of the executive branch. He voted against the Patriot Act. He voted against regulating the Internet. He voted against the Iraq war. He does not participate in the lucrative congressional pension program. He returns a portion of his annual congressional office budget to the U.S. treasury every year. Congressman Paul introduces numerous pieces of substantive legislation each year, probably more than any single member of Congress. I am all FOR having Dr Paul in the debates, and will hit that web site to sign up, BUT...... Can anyone give an answer as to why Paul has been IN and OUT of Congress so many times? It seems odd that he was IN in 1976, then OUT...returned in 1977, but got OUT again...back IN from 1979 to 1985, then OUT... and IN again from 1997 to the present! It also seems a bit odd that a GYNECOLOGIST changes to becoming a politician! Dr Paul's AGE is also a factor. Why, at age 71, does he seek the Presidency? Yes, I know ALL about Ronald Reagan's age, and John McCain's age, but....most men, at age 71, are either enjoying or seeking retirement! I admire Dr Paul's voting record and stance on the major issues, but he is more of a Libertarian than a Republican! I may be mistaken, but wasn't he a registered Libertarian at one time? Personally, I don't think that Dr Paul is "elect-able" after the last "faux pas" debate! Several of my friends WERE supportive of Paul, but have changed their minds since that debate! His "theory" on why 9/11/01 took place was looked upon as being "too simplistic", and when he stumbled on his words after "Rude Rudy" offered him to retract or change his story was of GREAT concern! One of my friends even went so far as to say that Dr Paul sounded almost "anti-American"!
Many flag-waving RINOs are saying that Dr. Paul sounded unamerican but that is because they are used to burying their heads in the sand and do not want to hear the truth. The simple fact is that Dr. Paul stated a simple truth and nobody wanted to hear it. We (the American People) are not thought of as the world's caped crusaders like everyone would like to believe. Our foreign policy of bomb and intervene has made us the scourge of the free world. Our agenda in the middle-east has less to to with the ideals that were sold to the public than it does to Halliburton stock prices. Yes, the radical Muslims look on us as being infidels but they always have but our dropping bombs on them and sanctioning them and playing in their politics to provide us cheap oil has moved them out of their tents and into fortresses. Why is it unamerican to state the truth? How is it unamerican to point out that the emporer has no clothes? I believe it is unamerican to lie to the public and falsify an agenda that kills our youth and throws us further in debt to a one world government. Don't fool yourself; that is exactly what this war is about. We are fighting a war that we cannot win and doing it on credit. When our creditors demand payment, we the people, become the collateral.
One advantage that Paul enjoys is that he doesn't make things more complicated than they need to be. He's simplistic, do you say? There is something wrong with simple and clear cut? We've spent 200 years making things complicated with ifs, ands and buts. The black and white stripes that used to have a definate line between them are now separated by a grey stripe that goes on forever wider with time. Mostly because there are exceptions to black and white. What is complicated about the first 10 amendments and the 10 commandments as written? When someone gets around to it, I'd like to hear. Debates are for lawyers that think fast on their feet. Maybe Paul is like a lot of us here, doesn't make hasty statements, takes his time and thinks it thru. I'd never win a debate either.
follow up: lol GOP office workers do not know how to handle positive Paul responce I just spoke with a friend who knows the people who work in the Michigan GOP office. He said the office "can't handle the volume" and "don't know what to do". Saul Anuzis's blackberry is flooded with messages, his voicemail is already full, and Ron Paul supporters are starting to find new phone numbers to reach him. They are totally freaked out. He told me "they decided to stop answering the phones for the rest of the day because right when they hung up with one Ron Paul supporter the phone started to ring with the next. They couldn't get any work done". And "Saul has turned off his blackberry because he couldn't handle the overload". He kept telling me how surprised they were at the amount of people calling and emailing. They didn't know what was going on or who was behind it all. Total shock. and then this: After consulting with my fellow RNC members, I believe there isn’t anything to be gained by advancing a petition aimed solely at removing Congressman Paul from the debates. The primary is and will continue to work itself out. ... In short, the so called 3rd tier candidates have had their chance to make an impression and if they cannot poll beyond 1 or 2 percentage points of support, they are simply getting in the way of the real debate of how to move our party and our country forward. -Anuzis blog Click Here For The Full Story: http://migop.blogs.com/
I don't know why some people have such a difficult time with what Ron Paul has said recently. His entire career, his voting record, his stance on promoting smaller government and withdrawal from the UN are more than enough for any freedom loving American to want him in office. LOOK AT THE ALTERNATIVES. Who votes Republican anymore? Obviously, the two party paradigm is designed to encroach on liberties and enslave Americans. Ron Paul already ran for President on the Libertarian ticket, and their policy is what is keeping him from doing it again. Of course Paul is a Libertarian. He is also a proven patriot on every level.
