</TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE>NEW YORK — Two out of state gun dealers sued by Mayor Michael Bloomberg for allegedly selling firearms illegally have agreed to a settlement that puts their sales and inventory under the microscope of a special monitor, city officials said Monday.
The two shops in Georgia were among approximately 45 out-of-state dealers targeted in a sting operation this spring because officials say they have supplied hundreds of weapons used in New York City crimes over the years.
The Bloomberg administration sent private investigators wearing hidden cameras to attempt "straw purchases," where one person fills out the legal forms and makes the purchase for another. The ruse is illegal and often used by convicted felons and others who cannot own firearms.
The majority of dealers refused the sale, but the 15 that allegedly allowed it were named in the federal lawsuit filed in May. Two shops — which had allegedly sold firearms linked to assaults, shootings, narcotics offenses and at least one killing in New York City — agreed to a settlement, with terms that include a special master closely eyeing their practices.
According to the settlement, the two dealers — A-1 Jewelry and Pawn and AAA Gun & Pawn Brokers — will be supervised for three years, but the clock will restart if there are any violations. For its part in the agreement, the city dropped its pursuit of monetary damages as well as its attempt to halt sales. They must also pay the city penalties if they allow illegal purchases.

The dealers did not immediately return calls seeking comment.
Bloomberg has made gun control a top priority for his second term. His administration's unusual sting operation outside state lines appears to sidestep the law signed by President George W. Bush last year that gives gun makers and dealers protection from civil suits, except in cases where they violate the law.
City officials said they hope the other 13 dealers named in the suit will join the first two and agree to be monitored.
Former U.S. Rep. Bob Barr recently filed a $400 million (euro313.3 million) lawsuit against Bloomberg, claiming the sting operation that led to the suit was "careless, willful and clearly illegal" and that a dealer was defamed in the process.
Bloomberg has dismissed Barr's suit as a "publicity stunt."

Straw purchase? Geez. There is so much left out. Was the person alone and went in and purchase the gun and then gave it to someone after the purchase or was it someone who came in the shop and bought a weapon allowing someone to walk out with it? I so far see that some of these gun shops need to be smarter than that.

I also think that Bloomie should be shipped to some tribe who still practices canabalism. I guess the sheep up NY way are all about fitted with their tracking collars and mind control probes. That place is so screwed.

If there wasn’t any firearm registration, to help firearm confiscation.
There wouldn’t be a crime called straw purchases.

I walking in a big park the other day and a guy jumped out of the bushes with a gun in his hand. He waved it at me and when I asked if he had it registered he said no. He said that he was a criminal. I told him that all criminals had to register their guns. Well, he mugged me anyways. :D

Okay, here I am. Going in to rob and kill this old lady. She probably has about $5 in pennies in some jar in her back yard. I just have to find the map. I'll kill her to keep her quiet. How do I intend to do this you ask? Simple, I'll wait when she's at the top of the stairs and put a banana peel on the step so when she steps on it, down she goes. Oh, don't worry about me. They won't do much to me. They'll say I'm a victim of society and that I was entitled to the $5 which I never found. Smart old lady. Also, they won't give me any time at all because everyone knows that the banana peel killed her and not me. Guess they'll pass an anti-banana peel law soon and I'll have to think of another way to kill people. Maybe I'll go to smothering people until they ban pillows.

That would be sad if it weren't so true. A killer shoots someone and who do they blame? They blame the gun makers, gun sellers, and society. No blame for the killer. He's just a product of bad surroundings. His dad probably run off when he was a kid and his mom was a drug addict. The school failed him. The job world failed him. Everyone failed him except himself. Where will this BS stop? I once knew a guy that killed someone when he got in a wreck in a car. They didn't pass a car ban. They put him in jail for a long time. That is how it should go. Remember, 'Guns Don't Kill People. People Kill People.'

    Dumb politicians.
