Quig, it would make you sick if you knew how much was being wasted every day here. We shoot about 1200 rounds of 7.62 every day! Wish I could mail it home.
I usually throw several handfuls out the side of the pad after the flight, that's just what blew back in the aircraft and didn't go over the side. Goes against everything I stand for as a reloader!
Found some 7.62 (.308) once fired at a gun show this winter. Bought all the guy had, which wasn't that much, about 400 rds. Lots of 5.56 (.223) at the gun range, some wolf but lot of it is mil-surp. I picked up some even though I don't own anything that uses that cartridge. I may have to start picking up more and bagging it up. Might be a good trade item someday, especially since ammo is getting harder to find and more expensive.
I went to couple of shops locally looking for once-fired .308 brass, both shops asked me why I wanted to reload .308 with all the cheap .308 mil-surplus out there for sale.
