Something like this is precisely in line with what they've been doing. Going after otherwise law abiding people, trying to get them on something just to boost their numbers so they seem like they're relevant. Usually something that seems legal, not something obviously illegal like an unregistered machine gun or silencer.
Its actually disgusting that they're allowed to do this when there's thousands of real criminals out on the streets who are wanted for actually hurting, exploiting people and stealing form the government.
Seriously why the hell are the police trying to make more people into criminals just because someone doesn't understand the law and have no intentions to hurt anyone when there's no shortage of known criminals who are wanted, routinely hurt people and break the law everyday?
Make it make sense.

OP is either a fed, someone who 'found' a gun and sees this weapon as cash.

Have it in your possession without the tax stamp : Felony.
