Ok, you might guess that this past week has not been a good one from the title.
Last week, weather finally gets a bit cool out, so the heat stops working in my van. Turns out the motor that moves the damper to control the hot/cold mix has a bad gear and is stuck in cold. $65.00 for that part, and I had to go to the dealer cause no auto parts store carried it, grrrrrr.

Sunday night, I'm baking cookies with my daughter. She's watching the first batch cook in the oven. "Oh daddy, look at the pretty blue light!" Uh oh, I have an electric oven, there should NOT be a "blue" light. Turns out the element broke, shorted out to the frame and started burning. Cookies are ok, but another $40.00 to fix something that broke.

Last night. I'm enjoying some "ME" time reloading when I hear the wife come home. Unfortunatly, I only heard her cause the garage door opener decided to tear up it's gears, ugh. Don't know what that's gonna cost yet, but about 4 years ago I repleaced those gears - about $75.00.

This morning. I was going to check a few websites before heading to work. Dang, computer wont boot, looks like a hardware failure someplace and the dang thing wont get past the bios check. GRRRRRR.

The good news is as of today, my wifes car is paid off :)

On the bright side, odds are that the day can only get better!!!

Why is it everything seems to happen at once?

I put 40:1 oil mix gas in my 0:1 gas running mower! That was a fun to dump down the sewer and light on fire!

    Must be a Monkey thing.

My wife's car that she got from her mom (a 1998 cream puff Acura) had the started go bad. Ready for this.......$500.00 for the starter and $300 labor. Now I know something about auto mech, but I wasn't about to lay on the ground, and remove the driver's side drive components to remove and replace the starter. So we took it to the local guy. (Last time, rip off artist) After we pick it up the snazzy radio in that thing has some security code you have to put in after removing the battery cable. I take it back to him, he gets crappy with me, I get in his face, (hell for $800 a guy expects the job done right, right?) he pushes me, he lands quickly on his face with me about to break his arm and he new it. Had to call Acura and get the code myself. Told wife we are selling that thing as it cost way to much to keep.(she got it free) She agreed and is now driving one of my trucks.

Anyone want a 98 Acura TL 3.2 with only 70k miles on it?
    I need a drink...[booze]

Same here, wifes car has been in the shop several times in the last 2 weeks, check engine light keeps coming on, ABS light is coming on, can't seem to find out why but every time the car goes in it cost me $ because of course they do find something else that was wrong.

Seems that everything on my wifes car cost $300.00 to fix, won't take too many of those and I'll have more into it than it's worth.

99 Ford Winstar with 130K I guess something is bound to go wrong

Sheen don't you dare say that!!! I drive a '02 Windstar - my "emissions" light is on but I think that's on 'cause I killed the battery when I was working on the heater problem. I'm going to disconnect the battery and see if that will "reset" the dang thing.

Thanks for the replies, y'all let met know know that it wasn't just happening to me LOL.

Oh, and it's not just the past week, it's been all YEAR. May my wife had the ectopic pregnancy, June/July my FIL had a heart attack and had a stint put in, Aug my father was diagnosed with Lung cancer, Sept my mother fell off a ladder and shattered her right tibia.
    That's the short list!

It's not just y'all....It's been one heck of a year....I don't even want to start a list....

Hope things get better at home for everyone!

Darn it all; you guys are making me feel bad for all the good fortune I have had this past year. Several of my least favorite people are now road-kill, I have the most wonderful wife in the world, my dogs are great, my friends are all worth dying for, I make enough money, I get to work in some really cool places, my gun collection is appreciating, my health is great, the kids are doing ok, inlaws try to visit only when I am away, my burgular alarm works like it's supposed to, hurricanes have avoided me, so have tornados, and I've got a source of bootleg movies that aren't even in the theaters yet. I feel like I just ought to get a bad cold at least.

fuel pump went out on my diesel AGAIN.
Was supposed to be sent back for warranty and they sat on it for 27 days before sending it to the manufacturer. Each day assuring me that the replacemnt had not come in yet.

Borrowed a friends spare minivan. (Insert soccer melbo joke here)
    • I've had it for 30 days now and:
    • changed the oil,
    • Replaced the axles after the CV joints went out,
    • Had the carpet shampooed after spilling a venti coffee,
    • Got hit in a Wal-Mart parking lot and am negotiating a tail light and body repair with my body man as I type this,
    And,

locked myself out of it today and had to pay $50 to a wrecker guy for his 5 seconds worth of work.

I did watch my 8 pound cat, Zipper, take down a 12 pound grouse today. Blood and feathers everywhere!

    I keep hearing...

    Some of it's magic....
    Some of it's tragic...
But I've had a good life all the way....

To paraphrase, slightly: "Well, pilgrim, how do you like the troubles?" "What troubles, old timer?"
