I thought I would try this, probably been done before, but I will post a few pictures of a local plant, everybody partakes and guesses what it is. Have fun. Feel free to also post pictures and keep this going.

    Location: NE USA

It grows like a vine, covering large areas and blooms in late summer for only a few weeks. Very aromatic, white flowers. Likes shaded areas and some areas with limited sunlight.

Here I got one for you.

Grows wild in the southwest. Likes areas where you'd rather it didn't appear. The worse the ground is, the more it likes it. Yellow flowers in summer. When the plant dries out, the fine, hairlike spines that cover every inch of the plant go airborne. I had to have one pulled out from under my eyelid one summer after one windy morning.

    hellplant.

Does it have a use in prepping? (Good thread, even if not.)

    Try this one.
Ground plant. Grows very slowly. First thing to turn yellow in the fall woods. Can not be harvested with less than three leave[IMG] .

I think I have read that the stems can be used for a tea. Haven't tried.

@kellory I don't think you are correct, DW's post still hasn't been confirmed, I am not sure it's a Dandelion. It resembles a thistle also. I am at a loss.

Also, your post needs to have an image, you cannot ask somebody to guess a plant for you without an image at least. That's just silly.

In what neck of the woods do Dandelions have thorns?

I suppose it could have a use in prepping if you wanted to plant it in areas you don't want people hanging out in.

Oh Kellory...if you are going to use an image, try not to use one that has the name of the plant in the meta file or title. Watch what happens when I right click the image and view info...

Now, Ditch Witch is probably a genius when it comes to plants, but I use other methods. LOL

I'm working off a phone. None of that is visable to me in the image. Never mind, i'm in the wrong game.

Is it a form of Poppy? like a wood poppy...

Nope, not a poppy. Native wildflower, gets about 18" to 24" tall at maturity. Spreads through seed pods, also covered in spikes.

    It's a thistle, but I can't nail which one.

    Not a thistle. :)

Or well... it's called a thistle in a few states but it's a nightshade.

I live in Texas. Most of our native plants aren't exactly passerby friendly.
