How can you find an article from 20 years ago, before Computer Archies? Microfiche? Where would that be stored?
Start with the newspaper. They keep archives. Used to be on fiche but some may have been optically scanned. If on fiche, most publishers will allow you to use their fiche readers. In my earlier life I was a reporter and used the archives all the time for research
RH is headed the right way, but I think I would start with friendly local librarian. Libraries sometimes maintain newspapers, and can surely point you in the right direction, especially if you are looking for a non local paper.
I'm looking for an Old Editorial that an ankle-biter wrote to a Detroit Newspaper when he was 13 or 14. It was a follow up to an editorial by then relatively unknown Tom Clancy. IIRC, it was titled "My Gun is None of Your Business" I had the clipping as recently as last year but cannot find it. Thought it would make an interesting post here... melbo started his rebellious tendencies towards the anti-gun establishment at an early age... If someone would have only told me those Machine Guns would be harder to come by later on... melbo then reformedhis errant ways and has since turned in all his guns to the local Gun Grab, err Buy Back program at the Fire Department. They gave me Ice Crea cone coupons for each gun, I got 2 for the 1919. I feel so much cleaner now. For the Children
It may also have been called "Keep your Hands of MY Guns" don't remember. The problem is that it's really not worth traveling 13 hours to go look at the scans, Online archive searches have turned up nada
You might try calling or mailing the paper it was in and asking them if they could send you a copy of it, would be worth a shot anyhow as a first step.
