I really want to better protect my home and my family in the case of a natural disaster or attack. Looking back on disasters like Hurricane Katrina, I know people started to loot homes and steal from stores. I have a gun that I keep tucked away, but it’s been a while since I’ve brushed up on my skills. I live in the San Diego area, and am looking for shooting ranges, places to go, and classes to take that can help when it comes to protecting your home. I’ve considered taking a self defense class, or other classes offered in my area. Any advice on where to start? What are some good places to go? “Everywhere is walking distance if you have the time.” Steven Wright
Any good gunshop or the sporting goods section of larger stores should have info on training classes and range locations. A 'hunter safety course' is good, and is also a step towards getting your CCW.
its been years since i left San Diego. 1984 in fact. there was an outstanding gun range out 94 east in Jamul. was open to the public. i was a range master there for about 3 years. but to save my life, i couldn't recall or give you any more info than that. getting old i guess.
For home/self-defense training, I'd recommend a class for pistol or shotgun at a place like Front Sight, which isn't that far away from you (southern Nevada). If you take a 4-day class, you will learn more than you can remember. I took the 4-day handgun class and came away with learning to last a lifetime. The instructors are incredible. If you get on their mailing list, you'll get really good offers (don't pay their retail price!!) and interesting spam (3 or 4 per week). One of my friends thinks they're going out of business soon because of all the "deals" they advertise. Recently they had offers for First Time attendees for $300...
You must not have noticed where he lives.........Commiefornia......Good F'ing luck on getting a CCW there!
