Shanghai Constructs Underground Bunker Capable Of Sheltering 200,000 People

    UPDATED: 2:24 pm EDT July 31, 2006
SHANGHAI, China -- Shanghai has constructed a massive underground bunker complex capable of sheltering 200,000 people from a nuclear attack, a local newspaper reported.

The million-square-foot complex connects to shopping centers, office buildings, apartment buildings and the subway system via miles of tunnels, the Shanghai Morning Post said in an exclusive report.

The newspaper said the complex has water, electricity, lighting, ventilation and protective doors, and can support life for as long as two weeks.

The Saturday report didn't say when the complex was finished or whether it was built with any specific threats in mind.

Shanghai was hit by air raids during World War II and, like most cities, dug vast underground complexes during the Cold War, when leader Mao Zedong believed a nuclear war with the Soviet Union was imminent.

In recent years, the city of 20 million has recovered its role as China's financial center and is a key business and manufacturing hub.

Might work for them. That is if the nuke isn't equipped with bunker buster technology. :D

OK, so a bomb goes off over the top of you while you are down there. When do you come out?

When the food, water or air runs out.

Maybe some little red commie would forget to seal the door and the blast would eliminate any need for them to come out. :D

Oh and for general information, I didn't design that little green smilie with this comment in mind. Hahaha.

Everybody seems to think it's funny, but who'll be laughing last? I'd say any bunker is better than no bunker. When was the last time you checked on the location of the "civil defense" shelter in your area? In my area at least, they're all gone. There used to be one across from my office, now it's a parking lot. Russia, China, even North Korea has a better civil defense system than the US currently has.

    Sad but true.

Where's our bunker? Seriously, what's that saying All commies hunker in the same bunker? You just wait for that bunker to be built. Right after the blast I'm sure buddies from FEMA will direct you to it. Instead of finding a place for shelter, you'll find a place for being counted and tagged. In America we have Freedom. The freedom to make our own. Most of those prepared are prepared for an event such as this. If you are in the zone of a direct hit, I think the bunker will be too little for any mass people. Besides, with this 'Grand' bunker, who do you think is going into it? Civilians? Not on your life. Those commies will be stuffing their military, dignitaries and other elites into it. The people will have to fend for themselves, such as we are doing here. Except we can do it as opposed to there where the people have no choice and have to follow that regime unless they got up the balls to throw them out. That is another subject though. One of the first plans I have is for a bunker. If I don't make it, then I won't need it. Know what I mean?

If a nuclear strike happened in my area, I hope I'm close enough to Ground Zero to be vaporized. I wouldn't want to be around for the aftermath, doesn't sound like much fun to me. :D

Remember people. Some people are dumb and smart. Some will live and lots will die. If you are among the living after the strike and you have stocked up, it is still going to be tough. However, you can guard yourself against a lot of things. It's not going to be the Super Gangs, MZBs, NWO Henchmen or numerous other things that will kill you. It's going to be those Feral Ninja Squirrels. Hai-Yah. :D

Seriously people, don't forget the basics. Burn or bury the dead bodies. Watch out for contamination through biological matter. Practice good sanitation. Stay fed. Stay hydrated. Sleep as much as needed though always with a guard. And don't forget feral animals. Dogs, wild cats, hogs and others that could get past your 'human' detections and could seriously hurt you. If the time comes and you feel you are forgetting something, you are. Instead of looking at the big picture to see what you forgot, look to the small one. When you are under stress you will notice almost all big things that need to be done. It's the small things you will usually forget.

    Just my thoughts anyways.
