In some areas it is still spring, winter in others... Just wondering how the gardens are doing? Did you prep the soil over winter or not have to? What are you planting? Any expectations, regrets?

My garden consists of my over wintered herbs... Oregano, Rosemary, Sage, Italian parsley and Thyme. The red chard seems to be perennial, ref using to die back, and that is OK. After an unscheduled health issue (aren't they all) I'm not going to get after much this year.. There is a need to get some garden blocks set to create a border and that is my goal for 2019.

We have a composting system so we ran all winter and started maybe two weeks ago planting. I am building raised beds for next year ended up with a huge supply of free lumber. I want to grow Turmeric but not found a local supply.

SUCKS is the word that comes to mind for this year. Reached the point of planting in Mud because we seem to get a inch of rain every other night. LOL will weed eat between rows and till in the main fields/gardens when it dries up maybe hopefully someday.

mail PO BOX 158 Cottage Grove, Or. 97424 call their PH # and request fall/winter 2019 catalog which is available now. they take back order sales requests for next season. sold out on Turmeric tubers right now.
    .
another possible source is Asian and Indian markets for fresh roots/tubers in produce section. cut it to look for yellow/orange color. cheapest source, and most likely will grow. good luck

Potatoes are two to three weeks out. We've started getting peas for two weeks, but I'm going to have to fix the soil next year, it's far too dry. Something ate most of my peppers (grrr....), but we've had pak choi and lettuce since March. I have a bed of garlic because I love green garlic pesto, but I'm unhappy with how often I have to just chuck some of it because it is so prolific. I'm trying to grow at the other end of the bed, but we'll see, it's a shady spot, so my go to squash isn't going to love that life. I tried so hard to get a few hubbard plants this year, but they just don't want to cooperate. I love hubbard squash because they don't look like pumpkins, and people have taken to stealing my pumpkins lately. Also, I love to use a hacksaw in my kitchen.

No garden this year, but it looks like a bumper crop year for weeds.

Have some raised beds at Dads new house.. Nice soft, rich, black soil that drains real well. It all has to be store bought .. So, loaded one up with tomato and pepper plants. Planning to throw some garlic in and onions in another for next year..

No garden or planting this year. I got out my big pots and was going to fill them but I am working on relocating so postponed planting till I am settled. I have thought about getting a few ornamental cabbages for the front. I read that ornamental cabbage is edible but bitter.

Here in NW Alabama it finally dried out (didn't rain for 2-3 weeks) and I got the time to finally plant my garden on June 7th. I had to begin watering the next day. It's later than usual, but our growing season lasts until mid-October. You can get another month if you cover your crops. I was checking and you would be surprised at what you can still plant between now and August. It's supposed to rain this next week...

It has rained 2'' and the weeds are about to take over the garden. As soon as it dries up again I have got to get in there with a tiller and a hoe.

The heat is starting to take it's toll...squash is fried, onions have really slowed down and the potatoes have just about run their course. Tomatoes are still putting on fruit along with the bell peppers.
